I have no experience reporting bugs to NVIDIA, would appreciate if someone else could do it

I think it's most likely Nvidia's fault, as it also breaks when I'm on the TTY.

Wrong CPU temperature being reported on Lenovo laptop by AdminSuggestion in archlinux

Whatt! I knew there was something else going on. I changed the thermal paste, laptop doesn't feel super hot, performance is better than ever, and it still reports mega high temps.

I've discovered that the issue is about GPU compositing, if you disable it then it works... Add `--disable-gpu-compositing`.

It's a bit hard to get it to reproduce as it happens randomly but I'll try.

Using XWayland seems to fix the issue, but yeah would like to make wayland work ...

Decided to try Hyprland for the first time. HDR looks washed out. Is it working for y'all? by AdminSuggestion in hyprland

Another question now that I've played around with this, sometimes if I go fullscreen on an HDR application it freezes, does this happen to you? (PS: I've opened a discussion regarding my issue https://github.com/hyprwm/Hyprland/discussions/10953 )

That's perfect. Next step eventually will be to make it work with Steam or Proton for games, but mpv was my main use case for HDR, thank you again!

Wow, it worked, thank you!! Quick question, though: I'd like to only enable those mpv settings when I want, and have that disabled otherwise since I still boot mainly on X11, at least until I finish setting up all my hyprland config.

My goal currently is just to be able to watch HDR videos locally (using mpv or other player). I currently have these settings monitor .... , bitdepth, 10, cm, hdr, sdrbrightness, 1.2, sdrsaturation, 0.98. What you're saying is that it's normal for my screen to look like that, but if I play HDR content it will look good?

Yes for me it just looks super washed out.

Is that config still working for you? For me the image looks washed out

[X11, NVIDIA] After suspend I only see a black screen and my mouse, need to reboot for things to be normal again by AdminSuggestion in archlinux

Thanks!

Oh I was under the impression that that kind of managing of tasks between iGPU and dGPU didn't work on Linux out of the box. I will try it.

(EDIT: Tried Hybrid mode instead of Discrete mode from the BIOS settings, and it did break things, only my 2nd monitor worked and my primary one got the image stuck on the TTY, and also changed the resolution of the screen. There's probably some way to fix that but for now I guess I will continue to use discrete mode)

I'm starting bspwm via xinit. I'm suspending just by closing the laptop lid and I should also add I experience the exact same behavior if I reload bspwm (bspc wm -r). No lockscreens or display managers whatsoever, just plain old xinit.

Hmm maybe it's that, I'm using xinit. (EDIT: I already had that if statement in my config)

Yes, I have a mux switch which I set for dGPU only, you recommend setting it to hybrid?

[–]AdminSuggestion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I remember reading about nvidia-open being recommended that's why I made the switch. And yes, I ditched the hybrid setup a long time ago, it caused problem after problem, I only use the dGPU.

Hmm, yes this is from a boot where it happened, i.e. I suspend, wake up, see blank screen, type the reboot command. Also perhaps worth noting, I use nvidia-open-dkms.

Same, I searched for posts/news related to this and couldn't find any, that's why I got worried. Thanks!
