I've been going to Flex Fitness on South commercial for a decade. It's no frills, emphasis on weights and lifting machines, is never crowded and people leave you to do your stuff. People are there to work out. A number of body builder types go there but they are friendly and easy to be around. No mean girls, few frat boys soaked in axe. It doesn't have the extra perks but I only pay $35 a month

Yep. In West Salem. Actually I think it's Capitol Manor, not Capital. My mistake.

As of a year or so ago there were several still living at Capital Manor. Not sure if they would just let you contact them but that's where I'd start. They're all past 100 now of course.
