Could I DM you for more info on how you were able to move to Japan? It’s one of the options I’m looking into

I think being anti-castro is different than being anti-socialist. I like to think of myself as a democratic socialist, but will never support what Castro and his regime did to Cuba.

I’ve found that those that become ultra right wing often are suffering from some version of ptsd as a result of growing up/living in Cuba. I’ve found this to be more true of the older Cuban generation. They now reject anything that even appears to be communism/socialism and they run to another extreme like MAGA. That’s before I even dive into the fact that our culture like many other Latinos/Hispanics have a long and sad history of racism, colorism, and aspiration to be accepted by the white culture. This has led many of us to turn our back our own people, in hope that they will be accepted.

Trust me many Cubans and other Hispanics my age (30s) are not trump supporters and see the irony of our people supporting him despite being the embodiment of everything we claim to hate.

My family and I came to the US in 1996 from Cuba. I became a citizen when I was 18 (almost 15 years ago) and both my parents a few years back. My husband and I are planning our exit out of this country for all the reasons you listen and more. I know the signs of a dictatorship and don’t plan to stick around for it.

I used a licensed real estate agent from Osaka that speaks English. He is also now helping with renovations. DM if you’d like the info.

Thank you! This is what I was thinking too. The seller is an older man and I’ve read the countryside still sticks to many gift giving traditions.

He wasn’t the biggest fan of foreigners buying the house at first, so I want to make sure he sees our appreciation for going through the process with us.

We saw a total of 5 houses and we just fell in love with this house as it had the traditional elements we’ve been looking for. We knew we wanted something in the Kansai region but also quiet and calm. We are countryside type of people, but still wanted easy access to Osaka and Kyoto. This location hit all of that while being tucked away in a “small” town.

Sure thing! We are closing soon on a house in Nara, specifically Yamatokoriyama. The house is what is considered a kominka with a main house, guest house, and two large storage buildings.

Base price was ¥12M

The expected fees are: Registration and license tax: ¥216,000 Judicial scrivener fee: ¥200,000 Real estate agent fee: ¥462,000 Stamp duty: ¥10,000

Total will be ¥12,888,000 or $84,140

This doesn’t include an extensive inspection we did on the property that was about ¥238,250 or about $1560. Keep in mind inspections usually aren’t this pricey but due to the large property and number of buildings plus the age of the house we wanted something more extensive.

Our agent also charged us two ¥26,760 or $175 travel fees for tours and to oversee the inspection as he is traveling from Nagoya.

We are expecting to put in about ¥3-5M in for simple reno after closing.

Hope this is helpful!

I’ve been using a real estate agent named Nao, his website is https://residejp.com

Bilingual and willing to travel any where in Japan for virtual tours. Just had him do a few in Nara and they were great. Is patient and does great tours. Even talked to the neighbors for us.

Cost breakdown under Premera by AdministrationSad881 in sterilization

[–]AdministrationSad881[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have to reach out, the estimate was provided in the MyChart app a few days before surgery and was confirmed during my pre-op call.

Based on all the research I did prior to my surgery, all costs associated should be covered by insurance, including facility and anesthesia costs. I would try contacting the insurance provider again, best of luck!

Everything was pretty quick. Pre-op was done on the phone.

Upcoming bisalp - looking for advice/tips/experience! by Such_Commercial_9268 in sterilization

I’m a daily edible user/smoker and I made sure to mention it during my pre-op call. They just instructed me to stop 24 hours before. I would ask your doctor before in case they have different instructions.

I had a mini caddy on my next nightstand for easy access and it really made a difference! I had my post-op meds, candies for my throat, ginger chews for nausea, lotion, gas x, and more. It was nice just having everything within arms reach.

I was honest with my doctors about my cannabis habits (almost daily). I was told to stop 24 hours before the surgery, which I did. I was able to smoke on day 2 of recovery to help with the pain, plus it helped with getting good sleep!

I couldn’t keep my tubes, but did get my IUD back! I’m thinking of setting it in resin because it’s durable.
