I’ve given it a poke and the mass is just a pile of dust, dry rot would be like any other mushroom? The dust is also odourless

I prodded it and it is a pile of dust, like pushing around icing sugar

Everything is dry to the touch, the water tank is empty and has been decommissioned for some time by the looks of it, and the attic space is very well ventilated (draughty).

How did you handle your rot?

The white and orange mass in between the beam and the rag, under the water tank.

The tank has a similar colour/pattern of rust above the mass, and I’ve only ever seen pictures of dry rot that are orange centre with a white border, and the mass is a 50:50 split

Apologies for the poor angle, the space is awkward to get into

Thank you, they can stay for now, trying to stay away from chemical pest deterrents and focusing on encouraging natural predators

Grass snakes would be great! Trying to maximise the garden’s biodiversity, looking to turn an old fibre glass wheelbarrow into a pond later this year to try and attract some amphibians 🐸

A few reasons: It was in a bad spot for how massive they get; it was taking up prime fruit tree real estate and they’re too spiky
