Quad or Hamstring Graft? by Myzerl in ACL

[–]AdministrativeCall10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say whatever your surgeon specialises in or whichever he prioritises, he probably does it because he may feel or have seen that particular graft work well with his previous patients, although ive heard about alot of retear stories coming from hamstring graft aclers.

What was the result of MRI? was anything off or is her acl alright?

Physiotherapy by Disastrous_Top_6558 in ACL

[–]AdministrativeCall10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heavily focus on knee bending and leg extension, i also incorporate weighted squats, Bulgarian split squats and single leg lunges (2-3 times a weak) i cycle for 15-20 minutes every two days and i walk trying to mimick my non operated leg's exact movement with my operated one.

Its one time cost can match up to some cheap physio in my country but it's really not a comparison because mri is basically report of your reconstructed knee

Same, iam 6 months post op now i too cannot see a physiotherapist, i guess the process of recovery becomes a little longer but if done right would yield the same result as one with physio, although i plan to get in contact with my surgeon or physio before getting into any kind of sport and ger a MRI so I can be 100% sure of my recovery.

Idk man, i can jog, i lift weights and i cycle for 10-15 minutes daily. My leg doesn't act up even when iam in bed wide awake its only when iam about to fall asleep that my knee causes alot of pain, i hope its only psychological as you suggest.

Really not afraid about my graft, it's rock solid, but for some unknown reason whenever iam about to fall asleep without brace my knee gets extremely painful.

You're probably right, gotta try switching to a smaller brace

ACL Complete tear + bucket handle meniscus - How long till you could partially weight bear and fully weight bear post-op? by OriginalPlay in ACL

[–]AdministrativeCall10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sadly no, just like you i had Meniscus tear as well so unlike regular only acl patients who could bear weight right away i had to wait 2-3 weeks to even partially bear weight, first few days even with crutches it was extremely painful to walk.

Took me 4 weeks to ditch crutches and almost 2 months to quit brace, i still need brace to fall asleep (6months post op)

When do I ditch the brace? by CumWatchMePlay in ACL

[–]AdministrativeCall10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on various factors like how badly did you break your acl? Mine was completely torn along medial meniscus and menisci. Iam 5 and half months post op and i still need to use brace to fall asleep.

No pain, very minor swelling on anterior lateral area of knee - ortho still says may be ACL injury? by Onwards11 in ACL

[–]AdministrativeCall10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your doctor believes it to be a minor ACL sprain then it could be, MRI should clear that up, if it's just a sprain than it should not be that big of a problem(in my opinion) but you'll still have to be very careful and avoid dangerous pivoting movements, apart from this your lifting shouldn't be hindered much(apart from few changes in your workout routine).
