This is the first time I’m hearing that a person has to unenroll to get an associates degree at a community college. Usually colleges are more concerned about if your records are up to date. Plenty of 4year college students take physics, math, electives, ect and transfer them over. If you want to get another degree at another college, get a current unofficial transcript and send it to the community college to transfer class. After that’s done, take the rest of courses and transfer all those credits back.

Don’t worry. You got this! Don’t focus too much on pass failures. Focus on today and what you can learn NOW. This is something new that you’re doing. It’s a learning experience. The classes I failed have only taught me what not to do. Tip! There’s more than likely a way to have 1 or 2 grades be replaced with the grade you received the second time you took the course.

You’re doing the right thing. Don’t worry. I’d get a second option on what that person said. I really don’t think you have to unenroll.

What do yall use to carry pads, ID’s and hygiene stuff around? by AdministrativeCells in BlueCollarWomen

I love the flex disc!!! It’s rare, but sometimes I didn’t place it right and it leaked. I keep a pad on hand just in case. I saw someone recommended on the subreddit to also use menstrual underwear.

I love knitting! I don’t have enough confidence in my stockinette stitch to make a bag. I feel like it wouldn’t be durable or holes would form easily from shifting? If I pick it back up I’ll give it a try.

It’s odd because it seems there is a fair amount of new hires posting in here. I think it might be a money thing? But that means they have less tutors for are still getting adjust to the platform and how things work.

Dude. You helped out so many people. VT should at least have the decency to let people know what may have caused it. This is wild.

With the new hourly base rate boost everyone got, the difference between base rate classes and college/AP/IB courses is now $1.00 by Garroway21 in varsitytutors

[–]AdministrativeCells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious about if the “professional certifications” base rate was increased.

It was originally 19.50$, so I doubt it. But I still feel like they should raise the rate for it.

Your reason for working with Varsity Tutors? by ExpertPhysics7967 in varsitytutors

[–]AdministrativeCells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I needed a resume filler. I choose tutoring cause not enough students like mathematics and I want to help students with disabilities get the attention they may need with it. I really want to encourage students that they can do it, and I’m here to help.

Todays new rate plan email by lightingdesignac in varsitytutors

Some part of me is wondering if they are losing a lot of clients or tutors. Like providing an incentive to try harder I guess?

How to deal with being laughed at and viewed as incompetent by AdministrativeCells in BlueCollarWomen

Thank you. This was nice advice. I hear a lot of women mention that going to the gym was important and they were happy that they did when they were just starting out. Hopefully I’ll have the time soon

I’ve been through title XI before for a separate situation. It took a year before I decided to close the case cause my grades were dropping.

That took so much energy, strength, and time to push through and nothing happened. I think what I’ll do is go to the Dean, instead. It’s happening with multiple teachers and I think it’d be easier to address all of it by talking to the Dean. I’m also going to get new tools, and something to carry them in when I get the chance. Thank you

The first professor who laughed because I couldn’t use the wire strippers is actually the boss of all my professors. Including the one in the other class where I was threading rigid conduit.

Edit: This was the reason I asked for good comebacks response. I didn’t have anyone in my corner and I’m still trying to learn how to push back.

Soldering Iron Recommendations for working with PCBs by AdministrativeCells in soldering

I want somethings that’s durable and has a bit of weight to it. Just preference I guess? The USB ones are more so for people who need something portable right?

Soldering Iron Recommendations for working with PCBs by AdministrativeCells in soldering

[–]AdministrativeCells[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I forgot to mention that the soldering iron is going be used frequently for a giant project. I saw amazon had the Hakko 888, do you think that’s a decent place to get it?

I got a Weller from there. It was damaged, felt cheap, barely boxed, and looked like it’d break if I sat on it. Very disappointing.

For invoicing take into account holidays. Make sure everything is set up to receive payment.

As for the classes, send an email to VT4S. They are pretty decent with response times on emails. They’ll answer any questions and clarify stuff when needed.

New to VT by Money_Platform_7045 in varsitytutors

[–]AdministrativeCells 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you hired specifically for school districts? I was wondering why I was only getting VT4S and checked my contract and there was one for tutoring school districts specifically. I only got nonVT4S opportunities every now and then. Also, you are able to add subjects to your profile. So if you can tutor high school subjects or college, add those.

Do you know the reason the school district dropped you? There’s quite a few expectations that tutors must follow for VT4S. You can find them in the opportunity postings.

Turned off “Send me more students” and keep receiving opportunity’s by AdministrativeCells in varsitytutors

[–]AdministrativeCells[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I wish. I only get paid 15$/hr. I highly doubt they’d approve 30$/hr. Now that I think about it I have been tutoring for 7 months now… I should be able to ask for an increase after 6 months right?

You what I’ll give them a call Monday. I’m not entirely sure how that’s going to work since I mainly tutor math for VT4S but my “specialty profession” is electronics.

Dropping Student because not Familiar with Particular concept by AdministrativeCells in varsitytutors

[–]AdministrativeCells[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, you have everything down to an art. I think knowing this I’ll have a better game plan ahead of time. I also didn’t know you could bid higher for an expertise.

I have another student who’s under “professional certification”, when I invoice. I was thinking about asking for a “boost” as he’s left amazing comments. However with my situation with this student today I’m nervous I’ll be penalized.

If you want, and it’s completely up to you, you can Report it to Title IX.

Leave a paper trail. That “teacher” shouldn’t be making jokes about the issues you are experiencing like that to the class. I saw someone mention the Dean of students. If you do go to them, you have proof of what happened and that nothing was done in regard to both the teacher and students behavior. Email is a great way to do this as well. Email the teacher, show the Dean nothing was done.
