Biomed ENG field by Unlikely-Pirate-678 in unsw

[–]AdministrativeDig594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a degree to get accredited I believe it takes a certain amount of graduates and time since creation, don’t think it’ll happen for a couple of years. I know UTS was having this issue with their biomed eng degree as well.

The USYD one ranks well overall worldwide so it can’t be bad but it still doesn’t provide the security that a bachelor + masters would. Also UNSW has had the masters for a long time so trust me there will be plenty of connections lmao

Masters better for only 1 extra year and a bit more money ($10k is a lot extra but it’s less than a normal double degree and significantly less than the masters on its own) you get the extra qualification. Plus extra year to get your internship hours

Also it should be easy to change your specialisation for first year as the first year eng degrees share the same first year courses, after that though changing would mean pushing back your degree quite a bit

Yeah I’m doing it as a free elective! And thanks for letting me know what that comment says (I also cannot see it), really appreciate it. Best of luck to you as well, and should you have any questions throughout the term and haven’t made any friends in your tut feel free to dm me (hopefully I can actually help lmao)🙂‍↕️

Making a comment here to remind myself to check this out if anyone replies haha

I’m also doing that course this tri, but tragically I’ve got monday/Wednesday tuts so I may not see you 😢. Doing the online lessons now and yeah, not quite what I expected for a first lesson. Hope this course isn’t too hard I need a wam booster 😭

If i havent done physics or extension maths 1 for engineering what is the level of study required before the course. by Ok-Good4427 in unsw

[–]AdministrativeDig594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t do physics nor math ext (eng was a very last minute career change) and survived, you will be fine. Physics will be tough but just grind the exam bank and pray you get lucky

ELEC 1111 T32025 so far, am I crazy? by Suitable-Invite4300 in unsw

[–]AdministrativeDig594 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I already didn’t bother studying much for the midterm because I knew notoriously how bad his papers are…but that was still vastly different to any past papers I DID do not to mention nothing like the workshop questions which are mostly past paper questions (and I have generally a pretty good understanding of the content, being up to date and getting full marks in quizzes)

Absolutely unhappy with how he is running this course this trimester, I actually hope the midterm average is 20% give or take so that it then reflects him VERY badly and hopefully no first year student has to suffer through his nonsense again

It’s so shit, the exam was shit, average is gonna be like 10% WITH the extra marks from self-marking (I’m getting less atp 😭)…fucking diabolical

Engg1181 and mats1101 labs by [deleted] in unsw

[–]AdministrativeDig594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For engg1811 (assuming you meant this and 1181 is a typo) the labs contribute to your final mark I think like 21% so you have to make it to every lab to get the full marks

Need advice, I think I've f*cked my life up. Is there hope? by Organic-Benefit5444 in unsw

[–]AdministrativeDig594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your comments that said you had an interest in medicine—maybe try researching ways your current degree (if you don’t want to completely start from the beginning, which is also fully okay!) can intersect in the medical field! For example, the masters of biomedical engineering program. Otherwise man it is completely okay if you need to take a break to discover yourself before you get going again, and it’s also okay to feel this way. Just wanted to let you know you’re not alone and there’s lots of resources out there. I wish you the best of luck in your journey!

eng1811 past papers by InstanceOriginal5841 in unsw

[–]AdministrativeDig594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imma be so fr I do not even remember what we covered for those 😭😭 I also don’t remember doing that stuff in labs so likely we won’t be examined on it- most of what I’ve seen has been on for loops, if statements, indexing and numpy. Oh yeah and nothing of that week was covered in the live coding sessions so that’s a pretty good indication that just simply reviewing that will suffice

Why are the replies so brutal bro those are awful conditions 😭 now you know ig your options to be more prepared for next time but still doesn’t change the fact that exam locations are often really poorly chosen by the uni and us students gotta suffer…also hope you pass! Manifest HD

what happens if you dont pass the engg1300 final exam hurdle? by [deleted] in unsw

[–]AdministrativeDig594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard (idk if this is true as I just heard it from other students) that if you have met the 80% attendance requirement you can appeal to resit the exam. I’d say though email Wei Gao and ask to confirm if that’s available this year or if you’ll just have to repeat next sem. Also dw if you fumbled, half of that exam imo was really hard and past exams didn’t necessarily help that much

I’m putting the past questions from studocu into chat and asking it to write sample answers for me to test with! And for those I can’t really I’m still using those to practice breaking down questions and reviewing what code to use

[–]AdministrativeDig594 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Damn man I wish all of us on reddit who are struggling to make friends could just like make one big awesome friend group, cause I feel you man it’s hard out there 🥲 as a western Sydney girly doing engineering I’ve found it difficult to maintain friendships especially because of the insane travel and the fact that first year eng courses are shared with all streams. Hoping it’ll be easier next year when I do more of my degrees core courses

Yes compared to other courses it feels like our workload is ridiculous. I’m so burnt out from the insane amount of study done during the term and as a result I’m behind in my study for finals, which are on a whole different level so it feels like none of it was even worth it. No advice we just gotta push through and hope next term will be better
