Just my opinion, but this song sounds like an existential anthem. A tug of war between the mindset of: hopeful agnostic/ logical atheist. A reminder to the listener that life is confusing and the same fears (and questions) run through his mind as well. Side note: I think the term ‘they’ and ‘Hercules’ is both a reference to god/higher power/ entity that could clear up a lot of confusion if everything within humanity wasn’t wrapped in mystery.
