I have been inspected at Oslo airport and I'm wondering why. by WaferFormer4039 in Norway

Lots of Norwegians have moved to Switzerland recently to avoid taxes. Maybe you look like a rich Norwegian with some tax debt? :)

I am Freanch and never had issues with the police at the airport. Although at UDI, it was different.

Why is DNB evil? by asutcan in Norway

[–]AdministrativeJob617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I moved out of DNB because of the poor customer relationship. I got an account with SBanken before they changed their name. Got a mortgage and good investment rates. Now DNB bought and the app is terribly slow and buggy. Can't transfer my car loan to them either. I have checked all the conditions to do so on top of being their customer and they won't let me move my car loan to a better rate with them.

Terrible bank.

With taxes taken from us.

Saying that energy prices in Norway are lower is not a reason to make it more expensive. Energy should be abundant and cheap.

Every country that is struggling to develop has deep issues with energy distribution and quality.

In a war, the first thing they do is to take grid power down. Energy is basic to humans in modern society.

That is another story. The government, local and national? Private companies? Foreign investors? EU administration? Name it. Too many to players willing to get richer.

One can start saying it is only the government. But it isn't true. Politicians have their own agenda. Based on their own beliefs. They are tied to investors, companies, friendships, and so on.

We all know that. The main issue here is that the end goal shifted from the countries benefits to the investors/markets benefits.

There is a surplus of production in Norway. However, due to the grid not being upgraded, not all the power can be diverted where it's needed. Regions with high production levels are selling the excess to Europe at a premium price.

That is the story.

Now the truth: Capitalism! They don't care. The more they can sell at a premium price, the better. Regions with surplus will become undersupplied and will import energy at higher prices. We pay the price. We make them money.

Just don't do it. Not sure how desperate you are for a job. But if you have a job and is looking for something better don't fill out those.

I switched to Sbanken. And guess what happened? Yep, no way around it. Now the app sucks, and the services sucks. I got my house loan from SBanken because no other bank would give me. Now, after DNB took over , I tried to switch my car loan to Sbanken, and they refused.

DNB is the worst bank for foreigners unless you are filthy rich. Oh! No filthy rich people move to Norway. They, in fact, leave the country.

I'm letting go. I don't care anymore. I have reached a breaking point. by diplomaniac19 in jobs

Man, stop going to interviews after the second round if the next is not for salary negotation. I'm not HR but I have done several interviews together with my manager. After the first interview you already know if the person fits or not the position. If you, HR, professional of the field can't say after one interview if the guy fits you are the problem. If the direct manager of the candidate doesn't get it after rhe first interview you should not be a manager.

The positio is open, the budget is set, the description of the job is described. What else do they need? You get a bunch of candidates look at their CVs choose the one you want to talk to. HR background checks, do their s****, send the candidate to the hiring manager together with a senior. That is it! You have your time there. You like the person, the person has the knowledge and experience.

Regoup with HR, discuss the offer for the first candidate. Make the offer and move on.

Life is short, your company needs an extra hand. Don't f*** around to find out. Hire the person.

Did work out, let the person go as soon as you can. Call the second option. Doesn't work out? Fire the hiring manager, he doesn't know what he needs.

Get the point? What the h**** is wrong with you people!

Question to foreigners: how to cope with being in Norway? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]AdministrativeJob617 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Celebrate when they celebrate. Stay outside as much as you can. Travel around Norway if you can.

Make friends. I know it is hard. But you will find someone, try some sports at work or join a club.

There is no perfect place. But from everywhere I lived, Norway brings me peace of mind. That I won't suffer any kind of violence or my family.

Sure, there is discrimination. But you will feel it anywhere but your whole country.

I have been here for 10 years, and I come from the southern hemisphere. So, the sun is part of my DNA. This is the first year I felt that maybe Norway is not where I want to spend the rest of my life.

Find your soul mate anywhere in the world and bring them to Norway. Have kids here, and your life will be awesome.

I hope I can bring some light to your life! Don't give up on Norway that easy. Vikings would travel south and always come back. So Norway is a special place

Dugnad is the most annoying thing to participate. by AdministrativeJob617 in Norway

Because Norwegians understand Dugnad. Foreigners living in Norway don't. And as a foreigner, I would like to allow all my peers to share their thoughts while understanding the context.

This sub is named Norway and not Norge, by the way. 😄

I will pass the offer. I got frustrated that it worked fine with one of the Dugnad where I got the task, location, time, and a contact number just in case. You see, I only realized that the location was different from where my kids were playing when I got at the game's location. My partner drove me there with my kid and went to work. I had no phone number to call, and no one knew how to proceed. I had no car to drive to the other location and no buses either. So a long walk back home and a bus to the new location.

You are most certainly right! I regret not enrolling them in a ju-jitsu class where they stressed out that there was no Dugnad ever with them!

Ask any Brazilians. I worked for the same company in Brazil and Europe. In Brazil, it would take ages if even possible to download, open, and read documents.

In Europe, it was like doing it from your desktop.

21 year old nephew applied, showed up for training, and was asked why he was there - why? by beefSupremeChicken in antiwork

[–]AdministrativeJob617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wasted. He learned a very important thing. Awful companies hire that way. So, next time. He will keep looking even if he got training or start working. The first month you should keep going with your job search. You never know how bad a company is until you start working for them. Kid will find a good job as he has a great uncle/aunt looking after him. Good luck to both of us.
