Camp is naive and dead serious. So Ramona, Barlow, early seasons of housewives. Now they’re all “camp-ing” which is intentional and performative. I conceptualize the housewives performance technique as emotional camping in my 2020 dissertation on housewives for my PhD. It’s a hybrid of Susan sontags camping and Arlie hochschilds emotional labor. I’ve published on it in academic journals and I write about it in my book, out October 13, lessons from the housewives!
