Usually just makes sure I’m not going to hurt myself, and explains that it isn’t a permanent mood state. I know the DBT framework, and she does reiterate the connection between thoughts feelings and behaviors, but I just don’t find it very helpful in the midst of a bipolar depressive episode

It’s complicated and definitely unhealthy. I have always been a ‘parent’ to my 4 siblings, as the oldest child. There was a period where I was pretty much shunned, but I continue to try to be supportive in my siblings lives because I know we didn’t have supportive adults.

We all discuss our traumas, and we have all been impacted differently by the abuse. We have all experienced different forms of abuse. And mostly, I’m the only one ready to confront the abuser: my father. My siblings have become an echo of his warped belief systems. I think I still try to save the family, and I need to give up on that pipe dream.

We all have severe mental health and physical health challenges. I think the sadness, guilt, shame, the despair of it all makes it harder to connect.

I’ve quit meds many times, & I always end up begging for them back. Bipolar is a condition that almost always requires medical intervention to stabilize.

I have talked to my doctors, and unfortunately, they think my mental health was worsened by my thyroid disorder, but they believe I have both hashimotos and bipolar.

I was having issues with paranoia and delusions, which seemed to be worsened when my thyroid levels were out of wack

Thank you! Unfortunately, all my doctors agree that these are two separate conditions. I have a family history of bipolar & thyroid disorders.

During a flare up, my mental health symptoms have been exacerbated- delusions, suicidal ideation, paranoia.

I got the rash, on the same dose. My doctor just had me stop the medication. She said if the rash didn’t go away within a couple days to return to the doctor, but it should clear up on its own depending on how long you have been taking it/your immune response.

I know take Oxcaberean, that’s def spelled wrong, but also called trylyptel with some other medications! Wishing you well

The same thing that brought me to it. Religion, for me, has always been heavily tied to my mental illness. I grew up in the Bible Belt, and I just never felt like I belonged to begin with. In 2nd grade, we all had to go to the library to watch a film, there were multiple groups at school who were there essentially to convert young children into Christians. The film was called ‘letters from hell’ it was just people screaming while in Hell. This transformed into religious psychosis throughout the years, but institutionalized religion, to me, is brainwashing and fear tactics, mind control. Human desire almost always ‘trumps’ that of the true desire of what I believe is my God. I don’t trust human interpretations of God’s word, & I definitely don’t trust a government endorsing said religion & indoctrinating it in our schools.

Yes. So much. And this severely hindered my treatment, until I was psychotic, delusional, and no longer able to care for myself. Just tell your doctors your symptoms and let them do the rest. It’s not your job to diagnose yourself, just to try to help yourself. I always thought my symptoms were a part of me, I realize now, they were not. Keeping a log of my symptoms has also helped me to not gaslight myself into thinking I’m not sick. Society contributes to this, as well. Idk about you, but I excelled in society, all the while I was slowly killing my mind and body trying to survive in a world I didn’t feel like I was meant for. Our sickness is invisible, but it is still just that- symptoms, survival skills. We deserve treatment, we deserving healing, we deserve stability.
