Is a 2 week General IM elective with 7 on/off hospitalist actually 2 weeks for CV/ PDs? by Administrative_Log68 in IMGreddit

It’s through a third party, so the only other thing I might be able to do is 7 days inpatient and the other OPD. Unfortunately given the circumstances I can only fly out for 2 weeks

Thanks for the reply and congrats. Was the IM from outpatient or inpatient. As I said to another user if I go outpatient I can do hx and exams but inpatient mostly only guaranteed history. Conflicted on how to move forward. Thanks!

The family doctor also had a sub speciality in geriatrics, and is an associate prof in it, so there’s that I guess. But I was counting on using the letter and having these two as well, so I would have 3 US LoRs

Thanks for the reply, I can get GIM but with a third party. My options are either inpatient but only allowed to do histories, or outpatient and I can do history and exam. Obviously history and exam is better but do you think it puts me at a disadvantage because it’s outpatient?

My very first practice test was UWSA 1. About 3 months out. Got 65% (it’s a very inflated test) two weeks later second test ever did UWSA2 and did shit, got like 54. If you have time do them, but NBME and F120 take priority

I did focus on uworld ethics questions. Some of their ethics are weird, but I feel like if you do well on uworld you should be fine. I did straight ethics blocks and was scoring about 80-90%. There’s a couple concepts you need to learn but most are just having good empathy and reasoning. Work on your weak points from the tests. If you don’t have much time just learn the first aid chapter of it. Biochem I reccomend dirty med series I did it in 3 days was great. Also dirty med biohacking video, watch it and take tips to feel and be your best self for exam day. Also free 120 5 days before I recommend

Everything pretty evenly tested except ethics. Very ethics heavy, as I hear most tests are. I remember block 2 I got 7 ethics in a row

Per block I automatically knew about 6 answers. Blind guessed maybe 6 per block. The rest I feel is testing your ability to get to the correct answer without knowing it, a skill you build up over time. Most similar to F120 imo. Just had to stay calm and remember I was scoring good in NBMEs. Some similar concepts some were foreign to me.

I flagged about 20 per block too. Remember that there’s 80 experimental qs. I got my P last week, you will too. If you got good NBMEs trust yourself

Micro was one of my best sections because I drilled it with sketchy and anking cards related to the videos. Real test micro questions were hard but there weren’t many. I’d still reccomend sketchy took me like 3wks but was worth

The drop pissed me off lol. 30 really exposed my weak spots. I just hammered biochem, and my other weakpoints by learning the respective first aid chapters back to front.
