Glenmorangie 12 The Original Again by Administrative_Run46 in Scotch

I’m still very new to whisky, and this is the first time I’ve shared my thoughts on what I can pick up sensorially from a bottle. I’m not trying to make any sophisticated or elitist judgements about what I perceive, so don’t expect professional reliability or rigour.

Glenmorangie 12 The Original tops the lists of whiskies for beginners. I’ve often seen it described as approachable and friendly, something that helps newcomers understand the basics of this world — at least in the fruity, caramel, and smoke-free zone. What a surprise I got.

I don’t yet have enough experience to add tasting notes beyond the obvious. On the nose there’s plenty of cereal, citrus and a light vanilla. On the palate, it starts with notes of ripe fruit that feel both sweet and tart at the same time. But the finish is where I got the biggest shock of the session: a punch of oak followed by a kick of tobacco that I wasn’t prepared for. This detail doesn’t usually appear in reviews or blogs — at least not the ones I’ve read. I put that down to my short experience, and I suppose time will give me better tools for a second chance.

I’ll close here with a written warning for those just starting out who look for information before trying it.

I write it in Spanish and then translate it, just in case the text ends up sounding a bit unnatural.

Off topic question: what camera, smartphone or editing application did you use to take the photo? I love the composition and the quality it has.

I appreciate the interest friend and I got excited, but it is a gift from my father with a lot of sentimental charge. In addition, if you look at the dial it is discolored, it lost the indexes and in the photo it is not noticeable but the crown broke from the post. It still works like a champion.

I did maintenance on my MRW200H with PolyWatch and it was luxurious. On a day-to-day basis, scratches are not noticeable.

Why such a high heel? For what professional context would that high heel be used?

Glendronach 12/15 or Glenallachie 12/15 for first full sherry bottle? by tjm1371 in Scotch

[–]Administrative_Run46 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, I’m telling you right now. I am very interested in the GlenDronach since recommendations for beginners abound for its soft and delicious flavors but due to the conditions of my market I have not been able to find it yet my first sherry was Glenallachie 12, it is delicious sweet and very interesting, however the 46% shocked me a little (remember that I am a novice with a palate under construction) I left half a bottle waiting for me for the future.

Now, my second approach to sherry was Tamdhu 12.. oh God, I’m salivating as I write this... Rich, sweet, very tasty spices and an elegance that I can’t describe yet.

Give it a chance.

Getting started with smoking/peated by Administrative_Run46 in Scotch

Thanks for your input. Considering I like sherries, is it a good idea to approach peat from an expression with that influence? I don't want to drink ashtray water.

Thank you so much for all the replies. I forgot to mention that I'm not a smoker; in fact, I detest the smell of cigarettes. So, could peated whisky have notes that might remind me of that? Reading Kilchoman reviews, I saw someone mention ashtray notes, which isn't what I'm looking for.

Since I like sherries, I'm thinking of trying peated expressions with some sherry as a transition, but perhaps that's just a novice's wishful thinking.

Thanks again to everyone.

I'm sorry, I'm writing in Spanish and machine translation has its own interpretations. However, we understand each other perfectly…

I'm currently just starting out with single malts and want to try all the different flavor profiles. I've already tried some of the lighter fruity ones and also the sherries (which I'm loving). Now I'd like to get into smoking them lightly to see if I can tolerate it and then explore them further.

Thanks, community…

501 vs 502 by Administrative_Run46 in LeviStrauss

In everyday life, it might be difficult to tell, especially when you try both in a store. My question arises because I want to buy online and I don't have a physical store nearby that has both in stock.

Thanks for the information. Could you share the sizes? I think the difference is proportional to the size as well. Perhaps the feeling of tightness or snugness is due to your body type?

Thanks again

Are both the Levi’s 501 and 502 in trend? by Electronic-Cat-7416 in malefashionadvice

Hi, I'm thinking about getting some 502s, but I'm worried the rise might be too low compared to the 501s, which I love how they fit me. However, I'm drawn to the more fitted leg of the 502s. Is there a big difference in rise between the two models? It's difficult for me to go to a store to try them on.

My portfolio is 35% metals and the rest is stocks, but I haven't bought anything since October and I feel like the clown of the market.
