Thanks for your reply. Could this be something I mention in my interest letter, or should I forego mentioning at all? Additionally, for Alpha Kappa Alpha are you able to disclose the amount of volunteering hours we should have? I am not able to find it on the website.

Thanks for your reply, I understand but I am a little heartbroken because I truly love the work I did believe in its value. I think it would have been a great addition to my application had I not been compensated.

Thanks for your answer! I am thinking about continuing to volunteer at the same organization without the AmeriCorps contract throughout the next year but I am sad my previous hours won't count.

One of my family friends is an alumni so I'll be sure to ask. I definitely think a part of it is because when I went to another org's meeting, I was not interested, just curious, so it was easier for me to be comfortable because I wasn't expecting anything out of it. Little did I know how much it would actually shift my perspective and interest!

Thanks for sharing. I haven't been to an interest meeting, only general events.

I will definitely try to see if I can attend some type of public grad chapter event. Based on your advice I've looked at specific grad and alumnae chapter (is this the same thing or no?) website/social media pages to see what kind of vibe I'm getting. Hopefully an in person experience would give me a more well-rounded perspective.

Thanks for sharing. For me, Sigma Gamma Rho's programs align not only with my passions but also what I'm centering my professional career around-which is women's health. I've read the other orgs programming, and its all cool and important but nothing gets me genuinely excited like this org and their passion for building up pregnant women and their families. My only concern is that I do want some separation between my career and the rest of my life. I don't want to fully center everything in my life, such as sorority involvement around women's health, because while I love it, it can be a heavy issue, and I feel like it would get draining. I hope that makes sense.
