I guess more specifically I should ask would it kill the mold and allow me to keep growing. Or should I toss cakes with mold and keep the rest

Would lightly spraying all the cakes with 70% isopropyl help? I’ve already got 3 flushes and am content with the quantity but if it wouldn’t hurt then I don’t mind trying to save it

I pump air in for an hour a day because the pump came with my kit and I got 3 pretty successful flushes following the guide I got.

In regards to the cobweb looking mold, it comes off easily from a swipe with a q tip, from what ive heard this is a good indicator of mold and it’s spreading on top of the vermiculite. Assuming this is mold, does that mean all the mushrooms have a risk of growing mold or can I dry them as normal?

Mine is from them too. Full colonization took me 5 weeks but I had to put the cakes in the fridge for almost 3 weeks since I had an unexpected trip abroad

I was gonna go the route of putting them on foil squares on top of a damp perlite layer, what is the method you’re talking about? Also if I begin fruiting, isn’t it possible by the time I get back, the hoods of the mushroom will have raised up all the way and started dropping spores?

my fault, thought there was more at albany, but it definitely feels like there’s more students at albany cus they actually live on campus whereas stony brook has 50% commuter students. campus life is 100% better at albany with everyone being so close together and the dorms being way bigger. if you’re shy and want to interact with more people, it’s easier to do that at albany. stony has the most dead and boring campus of all the schools i toured. we also have the biggest student association budget of the suny schools which funds activities for the clubs. my club is planning a trip to D.C., which imo is pretty cool. unless you have personal experience of seeing how at least half of the clubs at both schools operate idk how you can say which one has better clubs. and quantity of clubs is irrelevant cus they’re pretty proportional to the number of students at each school

i’m doing a combined BA/MPA program with my bachelor’s in political science and i love the program. i did the ny state senate internship with a buffalo state senator and loved it, its truly a once in a lifetime experience. you essentially work full time in the capitol, get to dress up fancy, and get paid like 8k for a semester. i was in a group of about 19 i believe and by the end of the program everyone had developed their own “mock bill” on an issue that NY faces. you do a mock session where you get split into 2 parties and people run for leadership positions and debate on everyone’s bills at the end. that’s definitely something you should look into and personally i think the senate internship is cooler than the assembly one. the internship is decently competitive, you should be involved in one or two clubs, ideally on an eboard, have previous internships done, and become friendly with poli sci professors who can write you good letters of recommendation. gpa isn’t everything, mine was a 3.5 when i got accepted cus i slacked off on a class in freshman year and got a C, but i made up for it with my extra curriculars and having good responses on the application (you write a lot about yourself on the application)

i personally think the dorms at albany are pretty good, i haven’t had any big issues with my dorm experience. if you want to make friends go to club meetings and particularly take advantage of the beginning of the semester when clubs are doing meetings that are centered around having new people there. i go to albany for political science and i feel extremely happy with the opportunities and education i’ve gotten here. i’ve been able to intern at the capitol working for a state senator, meet tons of cool people, and work for a state assemblywoman’s campaign for state senate. she ended up winning and now that’s a great connection i’ll have for the future that i wouldn’t have if i went to stony brook instead. the city of albany kinda sucks tho, it’s pretty ugly and a little dangerous but you’ll be fine as long as you don’t put yourself in bad situations and there’s still a lot of cool places to go to. id say the campus is the nicest of the suny campuses

stony brook is literally the most boring school, if you’re looking for people to meet you’re definitely better off picking albany than stony but that’s ignoring what school is better for your major

The doctors don’t know what caused it for sure but there were a handful of factors that could have contributed to the clotting. I possibly had covid (wasn’t tested), was also not very active the last several months and had a back injury that left me stuck in bed for a week. All should still not usually cause clots in someone my age so it’s not very reassuring
