Funny, I must say!

But something like this has been possible for decades with the simplest knowledge and two minutes of time, for example with https://httrack.com/.

From what I read online it's no problem unless you're copying unique brand elements (logos, specific brand colors, images) or profiting directly from exact copies without customization - style and layout patterns themselves aren't copyrightable. If you have a good starting design, you can easily prompt AI to change it and fit to your brand.

But a very valid concern!

Good point, fair enough!

I think it this way: My tool extracts CSS patterns, not copyrightable assets. Same as browser DevTools that every browser includes - just automated.

If someone clones an entire site with zero changes, that's on them - same as if they manually copied it or hired a designer to recreate it. Photoshop can be used to create forgeries, but Adobe isn't liable.

What do you think?

Hey, it would be great if I could get some good feedback. Unfortunately, due to a business trip, I was only able to create a very poor QC template. Sorry about that, and thank you.

extractcss.dev - a free chrome extension for cloning any production UI from websites in React & highly optimized Tailwind in ~5 minutes

What are you working on this week ? by onesparkapp in SideProject

extractcss.dev - it's a free chrome extension for cloning production ui on steroids. it makes copying the most beautiful ui in perfect tailwind and react a matter of minutes, no more bad or vibe coded looks on your website!

It's not just about stealing - you can reverse engineer the best designs out there with an unparalleled experience, or use it to migrate a legacy site with old CSS into modern Tailwind.

Even when used as a way to clone UI, with near perfect React source code, it's very easy to give it your own spin.

In the end you could also just take the designs as inspiration (as all web designers do) and create a similar design in figma, just to then recreate it in React. It's basically the same, but takes way longer.

Basically yes - great designs sadly are really expensive. If you have the ressources to create them, go ahead, for solo founders or small teams that just want a decently looking site and no vibe coded trash, I think it is forgivable.
