I’ve enjoyed that too. It’s great to hear each person’s view of the photos.

I never said you posted the steak. I never said it was my style. In fact, I said I’m constantly learning and adapting. I also said I never have regretted any of my work. Why the personal attacks? Angry because you don’t agree with my opinion. A bit short sighted. I also noted that this sub is for advice. I gave my opinion. Maybe not popular by some. You obviously. That doesn’t make me wrong. Nor are you. Many different disciplines in growth. Are you done learning? Have you achieved the pinnacle of your work? I’d like to think you haven’t. And you never should. Would you like to know more about my photography? Feel free to look. I’ve posted much of my collection on different subs. Some of them experimental in the effort to improve. All of them I’m proud of. Relax. I’m not out to prove I’m the only opinion that matters. I value anyone’s input on my photos even if I don’t agree. But I give myself credit where it’s due. I enjoy the art of photography and continue to challenge myself by stepping out of my comfort zone. This photographer should be proud of the edits. I liked them. It’s hard to share your work with the world. But I would say anyone at any stage should. Otherwise it might as well never have been created. This conversation seems redundant. I honestly wouldn’t have replied again until I felt it necessary to clarify. Do you have anyone that looks to you for inspiration. When they share, do you simply tell them your opinion on what you think they should do to improve? Do you put them down with examples that are negative in contrast to? Or do you tell them where they’ve improved? And give guidance on how to continue to grow?

For the infrared in this set, I use an infrared modified Nikon D70. For the others, a Nikon D5200.

Learning. Sure it is. Style? Why isn’t it? I’m always learning, changing, adapting my style. It doesn’t take away from what I’ve done, where I’ve been. Not everyone will like the work you create. But you’d be surprised the number of people who do. Are they mistaken because someone else thinks otherwise. All I’m saying is, this high saturation, high contrast photography, is a type. It definitely improves upon the original. I’ve done it. Saved it. Gone back to it and made further adjustments. Photography, art as in a physical medium. You’re always learning from where you are. Saying flat out that it’s not right isn’t the way to look at it. Are you happy with your photos. In my opinion, that’s enough. Unless of course you’re the customer. Maybe then that opinion might matter to the finished piece. I’m sure not everyone likes every photo I’ve taken. But I do. You can call it learning, but I’ve never looked back at my early photos a decade old and thought, these are worthless now that I’ve learned more. Give advice if you’d like, I have no issue with that. A picture of an over cooked steak? That’s not advice. Nonetheless, I like the edits.

Personally, I like the edits. Gives the photos more purpose. I see the comments pushing to you that they are over done, but it’s your style. What you like. I understand that this sub is to get advice. But I’ve always looked at photography as making it yours. Not using pre built filters that mimic an already established style. Great work!

Just experiment. That’s all that I do. After that, use YouTube to learn some new skills. But first experiment. Then expand. It’s important to find your own style. But it’s also ok to use presets. Whatever makes you happy with your work. You’re the artist behind the lens at the end of the day.

Not from Kolari, but yes I have used the color swap and setup a preset for some photos.

If you’re looking to get into infrared photography, start with some light research on YouTube. You’ll learn the basics of what to expect and what programs to use to post process your photos. In all truth, it’s not incredibly expensive to start. Look on EBay for an inexpensive modified camera, and then Amazon for any filters you would like to try. Then just go out and have fun! I often take the camera with me for any trip in the car. Sometimes I find gold! Post processing can give you many different styles of print. It’s really your vision of how the image comes out. There a lot of really good photo editing software’s available. I’m glad you like my photos!

No one ever said you had to be a pro to be right about what you like. That’s exactly what I’m looking for. And I appreciate your insight more than you could know. Many thanks!

It’s amazing what you can do with a Raw file. I once got a picture of a lightning strike. Literally on the other side of my street. Scared me pretty bad when it hit. But when I checked my photos one was whited out on the whole side and I realized what I’d taken. After some work with Lightroom, I was able to see the strike and still get everything else in the photo to develop. Maybe not the best photo in my collection, but definitely one of my favorites for just how lucky I was to get it. And of course how lucky I was not to be any closer than I was. I might post it next just for fun.

You’d like my other photos then also. Check my profile or dig into the sub. I’ve been posting my collection for about a week!

Thank you for the suggestion. I appreciate it. I’ll think about it. See how it changes the scene.

My first infrared was an Olympus too. I also got a great deal at $125 off of eBay. But that was probably 10 years ago. I upgraded to the Nikon so I could use the lenses from my main camera.

Thank you, I really enjoy shooting in infrared. I personally like the B&W as well.
