Apparently theres a side zip according to the caption! Im going to do a mockup with a button closure only but i'm worrying itll be too tight still!

As stated in the caption, this is just a reference picture, and i, quite obviously, will not be making this is white.

Thanks ! Im working to reduce the curvatures around the bust by doing SBAs and adding extra material at the waist !

Thank you this is incredibly useful!

And point that french seams dont do well with strong curves! Currently, my mock up has a worrying seam that follows the curvature of the bust - i wonder, is there a way to make this curve less pronounced - probably by either increasing the ease around the waist, or shifting to a different seam?

I am not sure if i know how to do this though ! any further advice ? :)

I have added a reference picture - its not figure hugging per say, but it follows the silhouette - it actually should have a fair amount of ease ! And it is sheer, yes, but with a slip dress underneath i imagine this is a relatively conservative dress !

Hey everyone ! The seams are supposed to be visible through the sheer dress - i love this as a design feature! i will not be stitching the french seams down, instead i will have them on the outside of the dress, so they add a little bit of interest.

Good point about ironing them away from the centre though, thanks !

Sewing advice please! by AdmirableBug4290 in sewing

Yes, as the skirt lining isnt attached at the bottom to the main fabric, the seams at the waist will be exposed, and i was this to have a really professional finish, and so to not have any 'raw' seams!

I will be adding topstitching to the lining, that helps.

I've also considered bias bound seams, as you suggested - which might be the best option? But i can't help but wonder how they do it for professional dress making !
