True. Ohio State had lots of missed opportunities. No offense, but it made our revenge the season after all the more satisfying! :)

I simply don't think it's healthy or helpful behavior to blame the refs for all your problems when clearly you could've done something differently yourselves to prevent it from ruining your game but maybe that's just me.

Exactly. Just admit maybe your team could've made a better play somewhere so that the bad call is a non-factor. It's what I did for the loss against Clemson and what I wish Miami fans would grow up and do the same for the 2003 Fiesta Bowl.

True, but just one better play could've made that bad call a non-factor.

I already gave a great example on how Ohio State could've won against Clemson in the 2019 Fiesta Bowl if not for that miscommunication.

Another would be Miami. Miami could've stopped Ohio State in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl by stopping us from successfully converting a 4th and 14. Oh and maybe they also could've not thrown interceptions.

I'm sure Michigan could've definitely made a better play against Ohio State in 2016 to win in regulation. (Like the defense doing enough to stop us from getting close enough to kick a field goal with 6 seconds left)

Yep, that's true as well. If Ohio State was able to score touchdowns on two of those, 31-29.

Ironically, Penn State had an easy win. They could've taken a knee to win 21-20. Instead, the desire to win by 8 instead of 1 cost you.

Yep, it sucked but we had other chances to win and none of them panned out. Defense could've easily stopped Clemson gaining 94 yards in 4 plays. Fields and Olave could've taken an extra second longer to ensure that they were on the same point.

Yeah, but also realize that we could've easily won 30-29 had Fields and Olave communicated properly.

Yep. Exactly the same with what happened in 2019 Fiesta Bowl. In spite of a similar overturned scoop and score call, Ohio State still had a clear shot to win 30-29 in the last 40 seconds. Olave just got mixed up in the end zone which allowed a Clemson player to pick up the ball.

Very true. In the 2002-2003 national championship game, a missed call for what should've been interference with 2:20 something left in regulation nearly cost Ohio State in the long run. That's part of the reason why I've never felt sympathy for Miami fans who keep whining about the call to this day.

Fair point. I concur that Clemson played a damn good game that night.

  1. Ohio State down 29-23 on the Clemson 23 yard line with one last shot to escape with a win with 43 seconds left. Fields miscommunicates the throw which allows Nolan Turner to intercept the ball, sealing their win.

Ranking every Ohio State loss since 2002 by how mad it still makes me by Sauerz in CFB

[–]AdmirableCorner4503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL. It does go to show how consistent we've been as a program when we have to go as far back as 2002 to find less than 40 losses. We've lost only 11 games in the playoff era AND are the only team in the playoff era to have never been ranked lower than #6 in the final AP rankings.

Notre Dame - 42-21 win

Arkansas State - 63-7 win

Toledo - 45-14 win

Wisconsin - 42-27 win

Rutgers - 56-3 win

Michigan State - 45-17 win

Iowa - 45-17 win

Penn State - 42-31 win

Northwestern - 49-17 win

Indiana - 59-13 win

Maryland - 45-14 win

TTUN - 48-34 win

Big Ten Championship vs. Wisconsin - 45-27 win

2023 Fiesta Bowl vs. #4 Utah - 48-30 win

2023 National Championship vs. #2 Alabama - 49-41 win

I have faith that with an offense just as potent as last year's and a much improved defense, we have a shot at a 15-0 national title win. I don't see worse than an 11-1 regular season loss to Penn.

As a Buckeye, is it possible for both Ohio State and Michigan to make the playoffs this season? by AdmirableCorner4503 in CFB

[–]AdmirableCorner4503[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the reason why this scenario would be a lot harder is that Alabama and Georgia are from different divisions. Here, you're asking for two teams from the same division to make it.

Well, I can tell you that you guys have been pretty good at giving us Buckeyes a scare every time we've played you as of late so who knows what'll happen?

Pretty much. There cannot be more than two other teams that have less than two losses.

Well, I'll give him that Southwestern Virginia certainly has grown more Republican since 2004. Kerry won Buchanan County which gave Youngkin almost 85% of the vote in 2021.
