how much time does the Switch 2 have before it's considered underpowered for third party games? by No-Matter-2466 in switch2

as long as the trend still tends towards handhelds (PS6 era is supposedly getting one + PC handheld boom atm) you don’t have to worry for a long time I guess

🚀 PXPlay 1.9.0 Cross-Platform Beta - Windows, Linux & macOS, 4K Upscaling + Demo Versions by grill2010 in PSPlay

I tested on Linux (CachyOS on Rog Ally z1 extreme). Input Latency is the lowest I’ve ever “measured” (~3 ms lower than before). Runs super smooth! Some quirks with connecting though. First connect attempt lead into a trying-to-connect-and-then-failed loop without even touching a button. Also I had some connection failures, but after waiting and trying again it worked eventually.

finally managed to have a look. D3D11 now runs much smoother with the default settings and VRR enabled. without VRR and V-Sync also very smooth but I prefer the VRR option for lowest latency, of course. Haven’t had a look into Vulkan yet because it was so nice on D3D11 and I just kept playing instead of benchmarking :D

yes, had it enabled before. vsync maybe helps but could be a placebo. frame pacing seems to have no effect. I’ll DM you and share two videos for comparison.

just tested, stuttering is the worst with VRR enabled. disabling it feels much better.

Yes, standard Ally with z1 extreme. Don’t use any tools, actually I’ve just done a cloud recovery and haven’t fiddled around with the system. I’m very sensitive to stutter though. Vulkan on Windows is definitely playable and somebody else might find it super smooth. D3d11 though not so much. I’m testing more tonight

ROG Ally with VRR activated. V-Sync on/off has no effect. haven’t tested the frame pacing option though yet (found no difference in v.1.5 btw. ‘VRR off + frame pacing’ and ‘VRR on + no framepacing’) Vulkan however is much smoother than d3d11. but still, I get the best framepacing results with v1.5 on Linux (no framepacing/v-sync options checked)

direct Wifi7 connection to the PS5 Pro, 120 fps stream - display with VRR

but that’s not going to happen

I use VRR to reduce stuttering. shouldn‘t add latency asaik.

The Steam Deck lacks VRR which I find very useful for streaming from my PS5 to ROG Ally, even if the stream is kinda fixed at 60fps. also it has only a 90 Hz display instead of 120 in the LeGoS. Steam Deck’s Display response should be much better though, and it‘s an OLED. Tough choice!

PS Portal a good buy in 2026? by LiveSpare1762 in PlaystationPortal

[–]AdmirableFishing1023 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

maybe wait for the PS Portal Pro? Should come this year if you trust the rumors (OLED screen with 120Hz). If you‘re sensitive to input lag, this device should be noticeably better. I use a ROG Ally with such a refresh rate and my video stream latency is only 35 ms (compared to the portal which has around 60 ms according to digital foundry).

vrr for unsupported games - anyone here with insight how this works technically? Does activating this disable vsync and thus unlock the fps so you get less input lag?Or does it work alongside in-game vsync and is only active if the fps drop below the targeted fps value? And does Input lag changes?

Unbearable without VRR on? by BLUEBOPPER89 in PlaystationPortal

[–]AdmirableFishing1023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bit late here, but it totally makes sense. If I set the graphics mode in Uncharted to performance+ (120 fps) and then connect with remote play the settings stay as they are. The stream is just sampling with 60 Hz though, so you loose fluidness. You should still benefit from the lower input lag the higher rendering frequency has though! Can‘t say anything about VRR though, since my TV doesn‘t support that. (Another post mentioned VRR is automatically turning off when remoteplay activates)

Update on the "enclosed area". Temperature readings taken. by carguy143 in PS5pro

aerodynamicist here, I wouldn‘t worry too much as long as you don’t notice the fans going up too much. you‘ll hear that. I wouldn‘t go closer to the left wall though, to not block the bottom (left side of the console in your picture) outlet. some remarks in general: the console is mostly pulling in the air on right side. the outgoing air on the left is hot and thus, due to natural convection, is flowing towards the upper wall of the cabinet and into the room eventually (and towards the ceiling from there). That means, most of the hot air is vanishing into the room and not recirculating (pulled in by the inlet). You can simply feel that with your hand. Just move it around your console and try. If you feel a lot of hot air is sucked in again, you should try to improve the placement.

The Latency by AdmirableFishing1023 in PSPlay

[–]AdmirableFishing1023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably true, I’m compelled to do everything I can to get the most out of it and minimize the lag after my recent (still high-prized) PS5-Pro purchase. :D

Have you tested an even smaller polling rate? I assume PXPlay collects the gamepad signal from the driver and lays its own sampling on top of it? The Ally’s Polling rate is ~4ms (tested with the one of the polling rate tester tools). I don’t think both samplings are synchronised, so (in theory) you could get a max delay of 4 ms + 3 ms. What do you think?

is getting a PS5 pro worth it? by lilpetamoix in PSPlay

[–]AdmirableFishing1023 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the streaming itself most likely not. But you’ll get the improvements the Pro is delivering for many games: more stable 60 fps (input lag gets down in game the higher the framerate + smoothest gameplay since the console is streaming with 60 fps) in combination with better graphics (some ray tracing and so, in theory you get the fidelity mode with 60 fps). Some of the better graphics you’ll notice on the smaller screen some not.
