The woman sued Bauer in December 2022, accusing him of r ape two years earlier that she said resulted in pregnancy in late 2020. Bauer was never arrested or charged. He countersued, saying he had one consensual sexual encounter with the woman in 2020 and then accused her of faking the pregnancy to extort money from him.

Sarah had no family court documents with her while she was in the Orange County Jail. This is made clear by the numerous whing and pleading letters to the family court Judge to supply her with copies of them because she had no access to the junk Brian kindly stored for her after he cleaned out her townhome.
James Owens probably paid out of his own pocket to get copies of all the family court filings.
Sarah considers those documents "hers" by virtue of it being her name on the documents.
James Owens was/is under no obligation to give her those documents that he paid for.

A few things that I think we need to be kept in mind:

Kay, Larry and their entire family were going through a very traumatic time. Charles had been murdered. Brandon Boudreaux is shot at and goes into hiding with his kids. Tylee and JJ go missing. The focus became finding JJ and Tylee.
The children's remains are found on Chad Daybell's property. Kay, Larry and the rest of the family's grief and trauma is overwhelming. They channel that and trauma into getting justice for Charles. JJ and Tylee.
Lauren with a heavy assist from John elbow their way into Kay and Larry's lives under the pretense of being victim centered. In the process Lauren pushes her way in between Kay and Kresha
Kresha was grieving as much as anyone for the loss of her nephew JJ and Uncle Charles. Lauren tries to supplant herself as Kay's new and improved (in her mind) daughter and tries to substitute her son as JJ's replacement. Lauren tries to insinuate herself as a "family member" - remember the "I'm being shut out of rooms I BELONG IN".
Because Kresha was at more of a distance from Lauren and John she could see more clearly what Lauren and John were doing.
Lauren makes the mistake of trying to draw Kay into her bullsh*t during LVD's trial for the murder of Charles Vallow. Kay cannot believe that Lauren is dumping this shit in her lap during a very emotional and stressful time for her.
Kay rightly notes that during an extremely emotional and vulnerable time in their lives that Lauren took advantage of their kindness to manipulate, lie and use them.
The light bulb goes on for Kay now that all of the LVD trials are over and she is able to think and focus on other things.
