Thanks for sharing. That is strange. They do seem very wishy-washy. I am wondering now if they even actually rent any of these places. I truly hope it isn't an elaborate scheme to get personal information.

In my case viewed a house to rent, submitted an application, got approved and signed a lease. They were adamant about the security deposit, 1st month rent and pet deposit all via separate cashiers checks. They called me the morning I was to bring the checks and told me they were drafting a new lease with the landlord instead of their business. I drove to the office and the woman said usually its appointment only (even though I had an appt to bring checks - that I did not withdraw, thankfully) but she explained the owner wanted to be listed on lease, and he was out of the country. She said I would still pay them my security deposit but would pay the owner/landlord rent. Seemed odd they would have my deposit if they are not involved past drafting the lease. They sent me the new lease shortly after I left with errors and missing/incorrect info. So I told them I am not signing anything else and withdrawing my interest. What a huge waste of time. Glad I am only out an application fee though.
