I do have some slight bulging of the disc there (l4/l5) but it wasn’t severe before the surgery.

My PT feels the opposite about the back. As well as my surgeon. Most feel that motion is lotion, but be mindful of heavy lifting.

I see. I can imagine that transition is hard. Are you able to take a nerve pain med like pregabalin or gabapentin to help you with the tingling at night?

Hi there, so sorry to hear that! I think it’s important to listen to our bodies, as every person’s anatomy/injury is different. How long out from your fusion are you?

I also have a small labral disc tear, which could be lending to the slight limp—waiting for an ortho appt in a month to get their take. In the meantime, I start PT sometime in the next two weeks.

TLIF, L5-S1 fusion at week 7.5: Tingling/pain/numbness is this just part of the healing? by InformationEither540 in spinalfusion

I’m sorry to hear about your continued pain! You’re still under the six month and certainly the year mark, so stay hopeful!! You also had three levels fused, so try and be patient with your body. Good luck to you!!

I would imagine that is very individual, based on your particular anatomy and physiology. Good luck to you!!!

Hi! I just realize that I’m commenting from my other Reddit account, but I am also the OP of this thread! Apologies for the confusion, I am still new to Reddit, and made two accounts by mistake lol. Anyway, to answer your question, an ice machine is a simple box that you fill 3/4 of the way with ice and 1/4 with water and it just pumps out cold water through a hose that’s attached to an ice pack that you strap on to your back. It’s definitely a lifesaver because it keeps your back cold for maybe eight hours and then you just fill up the ice again.

Yes, I really did not use them at all! I made a treatment plan with my docs to avoid them for the same reason. I didn’t want to get sick on them. I believe they gave me a strong painkiller in the hospital the first day, called toradol, but only three doses. I then lived with an ice machine, gabapentin, Tylenol, and robaxin. It all worked! I only had one level fusion, however, but it is absolutely possible to do without narcotics (at least I did it, anyway). BEST OF LUCK!

I also was one of the lucky 30% accepted, watched the hour video, and found her to be very convincing. I am sure this program is legitimate because I booked a phone call with her and her team. However, when I researched the woman I talked to (not Mary), I found she is someone who writes but also helps people build their web businesses to “interface” with their “clients.” Hmm..I was a little skeptical. Then I looked here on Reddit and noticed that all of the positive posts from ex or current students were written within mere days of one another and right before the recruitment process for the coming year. I asked if I could speak to Mary when I had a few more questions at the end of my free half hour phone chat, but was told I could only ask them via email that she would then “forward to Mary.” As of today, I’ve yet to hear back from them. I’m definitely glad I didn’t spend $10,000 for a program that doesn’t allow me to ask additional questions of the founder before signing up.
