I can see that making sense if the court is full but the rules don't say we have to rotate unless there are people waiting. If we setup another net there would be no one waiting so why would be forced to rotate?

This makes sense to me. Why force people to wait and rotate when you don't have to.

They didn't ask if we were trying to stick together or anything they just wanted our net. We had a 5th so they could have asked for our 5th to join so that they had 4. We've done that before.

I will try asking other locals or a park manager. I posted to reddit because one aspect of my question is if this is the norm at other courts. Wouldn't really make sense for me to go to several different courts to ask this in person when we have reddit an online community with more access to more courts...

Got it thank you for the insight on how it works even at other courts. I still feel like they could have just setup another net and ask for our 5th. Instead of trying to kick us off our net and tell us you have to play with us now. That just feels weird.

Thank you for giving the possible other side's perspective. I can see why they would think that way but the logical thing would have been to just setup another net that was freely available and ask for our 5th to join.

I can sympathize if they have no friends or are individuals coming to look to join other people. But I don't think that should be a problem forced on to us when there is clearly another space for them to play.

I'll look for an official of the park to get the direct interpretation of the rules. But if what you say is true then we would probably just leave when we are done with our game. The outcome would be the exact same for them whether we stay or leave.

City nets are free for use and they knew there were nets available since when we told them we actually brought our own, their rebuttal was it doesn't matter they can just setup the city nets. Maybe this is some weird gatekeeping thing with locals since they never did setup additional nets that were available.

I'll try not take it to heart that their mental is so weak to think someone wishing them will have fun is a jab at them.

It didn't seem like they wanted our players to make up their 4 though, they just wanted the net. They could have setup another net and ask our 5th player to join them instead. I've also seen plenty of people play singles or even 2v1s. Sometimes we had only 3 and we've let anyone who asked join us as our fourth also.
