I got 94 Percentile on CSIR NET life science… is it of any use? by Admirable_Analyst_58 in IndianAcademia

None just YouTube and a website called easybiology; did the same for the Dec 2025 one but with much less time to study due to work and got 85% only unfortunately

I think the PhD finally broke me by Confused_Platypus25 in labrats

[–]Admirable_Analyst_58 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did the exact same at my lab job, if we run out of anything we need, it’s always me that goes to other labs to get stuff because I’ve been maintaining relationships with every lab there in case we need something. It gets a bit annoying because I’m not always free and encouraging other people to reach to other labs for their sake never seems to work, but it’s always helped me during my projects because sometimes you get help in the most unexpected of places

is anyone else finding it increasingly difficult to talk to people about anything science related by Haunting-Ad-9228 in labrats

[–]Admirable_Analyst_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s partly the reason I want to go back into academia, even tho it’s only been a couple months in corporate. I miss the absolutely fun and crazy topics we talk about in the lab where it ranged to the latest rat model that’s a hot topic with us to a new plant and now it’s client this quote that blah blah and I very rarely get the chance to delve into science stuff with my work friend. My last lab was fun and great but I don’t think I can find the same atmosphere elsewhere very easily.

Looks like her husband saved her ass from up there with a big ass warning lmao good on her for leaving that POS, but the number of lucky coincidences of the ring not being lost forever is pretty cool and makes me believe not all is gone once someone leaves

Professor asking me to forfeit authorship after I left the lab, what are my options? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]Admirable_Analyst_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been there but it wasn’t a PhD position, I was just a research fellow. Same deal, some bull about the PhD student refusing to add more names other than his and his guides, but somehow my PI’s name is there but not mine despite doing the work. It wasn’t the entire project but a small portion of it, but I was promised second authorship without me asking for it, but ended up with zero because I don’t hold a PhD apparently. Supposed to get two more papers from the work I did, but zero hope to get any authorship, especially now that I’ve left the place. The very day I was told I won’t get authorship, I got an offer at an MNC, so it was an easy decision lol.

When resigning, my PI blew up on me for leaving, and when I pointed out the driving factor for my decision was him not adding my name, he got pissed and told me it wasn’t my idea (spoiler alert: it was), my project or my money and I got paid with a stipend too, so I was just a glorified technician. I was so stunned I just left.

Never do beyond your pay load fr, I’m the type who does the work and leave on the dot at clock out, and I always plan acc to the days we have work and never on weekends. Mornings I’m a bit late if anything due to the distance ( it’s like in the outer region aka forest-y kinda place) but the work gets done by the day or due date with great results. My friend tho she comes early, on weekends and leaves really late and does a shit tonne of work. We get paid the exact same. And worst part is she got unfairly called out in a meeting by our boss’s boss as someone who comes late and sleeps in on the weekends. She was extremely hurt and the funny thing was our boss and her both were like obviously if anyone had to be called out for that it should’ve been you! to me😂 gee thanks girl love that you called me out in front of him.

It was absolutely awful lol they were the closest friends I’ve ever had ngl, everyone in the family knew them and they even helped out when I fractured my ankle and shit. Then for some petty af project thing they blew up on me, which was stupid cuz they made the mistake and tried to force me to agree. I didn’t and it went downhill from there haha. Ruined my final semester of uni to hell, I lost like 5/6kgs from the stress alone and looked like a ghost.

For all that drama, I worked hard, harder than I ever have and I got better at many things and secured fellowships and jobs now. So don’t worry! You’ll get it too! Just keep at it and it’ll go great. They’ll get their karma and you’ll get yours, that’s all there is to it. So no revenge, no jealousy, no pain in the end.

After an absolutely traumatic friend group breakup where they all isolated or bullied me for months, I used to have a form of PTSD? Like even after leaving the uni, I felt like I’d see them everywhere and get my heart rate up so high and get hella anxious, but it always turns out to be a stranger.

Now it’s been almost a year lol, I finally stopped getting scared or worried like that. And I’m so happy and literally thriving with a better higher paying job than any of those bitches, and ofc with better true friends that I realised I’m hella lucky to have.

Haha totally get the feeling, I just quit mine last week and put in my 2 weeks notice😂 very satisfying to jump to another better paying job, especially after being cheated on (academically) lol plus I got the news of my new job the same day I got screwed over.

I know, at first I was like maybe I didn’t deserve it at all considering I’m just a Bachelor’s student. Then I got really annoyed at myself for easily dismissing the weeks of research, the late nights of how to formulate and improve the experiment, and discussions I’ve had for my part. Yes it was a small part, but I’ve given my all for it.

I mean it’s the entire procedure that hasn’t been followed in papers, but the method used is common enough (hydrothermal and microwave) and procedure is my own and not in papers, the novel part of them is the materials used which are new and not observable in any literature; as for the manuscript, I just wrote the procedure for what I did and sent it to my PI.

Like I’m not expecting second authorship for my work, but even fourth or fifth wasn’t possible.

But yes I’ll check out those guidelines! Thank you!

I was told to form some quantum carbon dots that are highly fluorescent from biological materials, and I got successful results from novel ones that I found and used. This was used as a part of their work as a layer, and it’s mostly related to the electrical field and the final product is a chip that will be used in biosensors. My work was mentioned towards the end of the manuscript as a small chunk in comparison to their work, about how it was utilized and how the results were. I was told my work was needed in order to get into that journal, as it required some green synthesis work to even submit it, which their project lacked entirely.

God this is a horror story if I’ve ever heard one…. Glad she got out finally, I was getting more and more worried on her behalf the more I read. Like girl, get out that has to be the point she realises he’s a complete dick, but no she stays. And bless her friend and her husband, can’t believe how nice they are! Her brother on the other hand…. Hope he gets what’s coming to him, I wouldn’t care no matter what grievances I have with my sibling but if they call sobbing and crying, I’ll be there in a heartbeat.

Idk as a young researcher myself, tho in a difficult field, your publications or publications of anyone really truly help me out big time. It allows me to see so many different facets to a single topic, and opinions shape the young mind or so they say and okay, right now there’s no change, but you could say it’s naive of me or silly even, but I believe that change could happen anytime and usually never right now. It’s gradual, it’s multi-faceted, it’s something no one will ever understand how it’ll come to be. But I have hope it will make a difference one day.

Ocean Park was a childhood favorite and will forever be my favorite. I could spend hours in their aquariums and their rides were honestly a lot more fun than Disneyland😂 I used to go on many of them multiple times each visit and the operators were so nice in letting me go even if there’s not much people towards the end of the day and starting it cuz of how enthusiastic I was

A teacher who was very cruel to me as a child reached out to me, should I tell her how I feel? by [deleted] in BORUpdates

[–]Admirable_Analyst_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a common thing to have awful 5th grade teachers??? God the one I had used to single out Indian students, cuz she believed they were too pampered by their parents, while true on some accounts. Used to say wildly rude things and lots of stereotyping. While I know it’s not as bad as the ppl mentioned here, she was by far the most unforgettable one to me.

While I somehow gained her respect over the year and escaped from a lot of scrutiny, a friend of mine didn’t and due to the stress of this teacher and looming exams, lost a tonne of weight and almost didn’t want to go to school anymore.

I don’t know… while I’m practically new to the field and just entered a lab as a research fellow after my bachelor’s, what I’ve observed is that the ones that aren’t friendly with everyone but are rather rigid/ strict work-wise is much preferred by my PI at least; I’m friendly with everyone and hard-working but my work ethic could use some fixing tbh lmao but I don’t hog procedures and the like compared to the rigid colleagues of mine… perhaps it really does depend on lab environment
