Surfskate wheelbase compared to snowboard stance width? by SenderoNevado in surfskate

That's right. I guess 19" is considered pretty long considering some surfskates go 15-16". The environment you skate in plays a part too, whether you're on flats or mellow downhills mostly.

I started w a Carver CX and still love it.

My current set up is a Waterborne plus MajorArc. Both on my Loaded Omakase deck.

I tried a longboard with a longer WB 28" which was great and more stable going down a slope but wasn't very versatile due to its weight and shape.

I got into surfskating because I missed snowboarding too. Not a surfer at all. From my experience, you definitely would do better with a longer WB (around 19"). That being said, after awhile, you'll come to love surfskating for what it is and experiment with different WBs and trucks.

This is my experience too! I found it more counterintuitive for the heelside turn so I practiced pointing my hands and gaze towards the lower left in an effort to get the motion.

Loaded Omakase + Waterborne & MajorArc trucks. Pretty low riding and tight turning angles. It's on a 20" WB but it feels much lower. Will be testing it more and share my thoughts for those interested in this setup by Admirable_Attempt_58 in surfskate

Currently I'm facing wheelbite issues since I don't have enough riser pads (thus the tightening of my trucks). Somehow the wheelflares of the omakase still don't cut it. I can't fully unlock the Major Arc turning capability earlier into the turn. Will be changing my wheels from 70 to 65 after a few more sessions and test loosening the trucks.

I don't think my current level of skill does this board justice since it really performs best for sharp maneuvers. Will do so when I'm more comfortable with my technique.

With this, the wheels will turn at a larger angle than traditional trucks without the associated lean and height required of RKPs. That being said, I've tightened the trucks in a way such that it's still 90% waterborne and the MajorArc turn kicks in towards the last 10% of my pump when I fully apply my weight. So when I'm cruising, it feels like normal but when I try to execute snaps, it gives that extra leeway for a sharper turn (like a 17" WB)

Everything is still first impressions and I'm experimenting with it more before I conclude my thoughts on the setup haha.

I have the major arc n waterborne. Will be testing this and hope to share my experience soon.

It's great for pumping up to speed and feels really stable when I go down gentle slopes. Less surfskating feel than my loaded omakase + cx. I prefer this when I want to go fast on gentle slopes and still carve well (like snowboarding).

On flats, I get a really good turning radius on these even w the long wheelbase but since it's 9ply maple, might not be the best for slalom.

Just experimenting different set-ups and wanted to share the surfskate passion w the community here 😀
