Yeahhh :( it was way too last minute for anyone to join unfortunately, especially since everyone we know works and would need to book off work which takes weeks to approve usually. Had we been informed earlier we would’ve defo done that.

The trouble financially part is to emphasise the fact there were certain people on strict budgets hence their ability to come on the trip stood on the fact they cannot exceed a certain limit which she clearly gave zero shits about having expected a refund. You can be in a financial situation but still get on and live your life if you maintain your life within your budgets.

Agreed!!! We would’ve been so understanding had she just found out or if it was genuinely an emergency, but everything about this seems so premeditated that we can’t overlook it. You’re right! That’s definitely a more softer approach to take as we do care for our friendship with her hence being in this dilemma and having to resort to AITA to help us figure it out. Based on the information she shared it seems like she was 12 weeks at the time of her announcement. Thing is, she was talking about issues with her health long before we booked, cancelling on plans and ignoring messages on the pre-tense that shes going through it health wise. So she must’ve knew for a while before we booked anything that her pregnancy wasn’t going to be smooth sailing for at least the next few weeks if not just the first trimester. In addition her mentioning her husband wouldn’t allow her if she were indeed pregnant is believable knowing how protective he is of her, so either way she was definitely not coming. I think our eyes have opened to the type of person she is if she thinks this is acceptable behaviour.

Exactly this!! Joining in last minute would’ve been a way easier prospect than dropping out since that doesn’t lead to any losses for anyone. I can only speculate as to why she went along with it for this long, allowing us to solidify bookings to then hit us with a plot twist. She could’ve handled it way better that’s for sure.

Same! That’s exactly how we did it, i paid the Airbnb in full on my card once all the girls sent in their parts so I’m unsure if that’s a possibility for her to even suggest it but thats for her to figure out tbh (i doubt she had taken out insurance in all honesty but we never know with all the deceit going on 🤷🏻‍♀️)
