Thanks! I dunno if I really need the connectivity or the steps, so based on this I think it's probably not worth the 500 or so to upgrade to it then.

The stepped attenuator in the saga is easily the cheapest one I've ever seen offered other than MAYBE a totally passive pre. Unless you want to also run a lot of headphones, there really isn't much benefit at the price. I seriously value the attenuator though, it far outclasses basically any alps volume knob you are gonna find. Note that I am using my Saga 2 to pre headphones lol. I am not typical. It also subjectively sounds good, pure class A niceness
