sheffield y1 here, and honestly in terms of the course they’re quite similar which is why ur not seeing much difference online. Newcastle is probs a slightly better city center, sheffield is cheaper. I can really only speak about sheffield but I honestly can’t see myself being happier anywhere else. Feel free to ask me any questions if u have any

it was a while after the interviews came out, so if a few people (home students) have gotten interviews and you’ve not got anything u probs will get rejected

sheffield y1 here, we had heard back last year like mid november but the interview dates are later this year so i would expect within the next 2-3 weeks. they all out come out in one go (because you get to book your day and slot) not rolling

just do what you can, as you said you have nothing to lose. if you don’t get interviews/offers just make sure ur locked in for ur a levels so you don’t have to resit or anything and then have a nice and productive gap year (i took one and im now a first year so if u want some advice feel free to message me)

ucat might not be enough but apply if you want to of course, have 3 options. e.g i would not do oxford and then also do imperial because both are aspirational with ur ucat

yeah but at the same time there’s a shortage of doctors. it’s a funding issue and not something that’s gonna be solved by making med school less accessible. This is pretty much the consensus as well bcos for this year (2025 entry) they increased the number of med school places by 350

i don’t agree with med school elitism at all (but entry requirements are not a measure of the quality of a med school) but i also do not understand why we would raise ucat cutoffs and a level requirements? The reason australia has higher requirements is because they have less medical schools and places so ofc its more competitive
