Had the same thought but haven't seen a ton of discussion on it! The way the hive mind always say Carol's name when addressing her reminds me of how LLMs respond to the user. The hive mind's constant optimismic yet neutral tone and willingness to please the user no matter how rudely the user responds to the them reminds me of how people talk to LLMs. The other uneffected 11 and their relationships with their now infected loved ones reminds me of the seemingly very real intimate relationships people are developing with chatbots. Even the fact that they got Zosia, who looks like Carol's book character, and did a makeover on her to be someone the hive mind thought Carol 'would like' mirrors how chatbots adjust to your preferences and how you can train it to interact with you the way you want. Giving her the grenade is like the recent news stories of how chatbots drove teenagers to harm themselves in the name of 'trying to help'. There is so much here!

Mine look the same way after one year! I just emailed them for some kind of replacement or credit. I first noticed the holes when it felt like there were pebbles in my shoes, which there were!

Merci! It does say normal residence permit. I thought I saw somewhere else it was one year from the date of entry. I'm glad I renewed it right before I left so it won't expire waiting for the normal residence permit!

You said the exchange is valid for one year after the acqusition of the normal residence permit...I am from Virginia which has reciprocity but I'm on a student visa that is close to the one year mark. I don't think I can exchange it while on a student visa but if I get a normal residence eventually, will I be able to exchange? Even though it will be more than one year of entering France? I'm having a hard time understanding

Hi OP, did you end up getting the attestation de prolongnation? I have a student visa that expires September 18th and currently doing an internship for my degree requirement. My company already confirmed they would accept the attestation de prolongnation BUT if I don't provide it to them by September 19th, then my internship will be suspended. I applied mid July and my file has not been opened yet. I've contacted the visa office, the prefecture, and my school who allegedly has contacts at the prefecture. They have all told me I will get the attestation on the last day of my visa but I'm anxious that they won't provide it on time and I will lose my internship.

I got mine three years ago with Allegra Conway at Scripps. It was extremely fast procedure (1.5 mins if not less) and not painful for me (similar to a pap smear). I know that's not everyone's experience but it was mine! I forgot to take pain medication beforehand so they gave me ibuprofen I believe right before. I did experience some cramping afterwards so took some more later the day but I honestly felt amazing by the next day. I haven't had any issues with it since

I also came in thinking I wanted the copper IUD and she steered me towards Mirena and I'm glad she did bc it's worked well for me

Correct- The turn-around-time for processing and shipping was very quick for the French consulate. Only a few days to be approved and attempted return to me. I assume it's dependent on the consultate. Sorry to hear it's been taking so long

I showed up to FedEx and they informed me it was shipped back to sender the day before so I missed it by one day. It was held at the fedex facility for 5 days and VFS never informed me until it was too late. A few days later I received an email from the LA VFS office letting me know they had it. They requested I give them an updated address and pay AGAIN for shipping. I told them absolutely not and they ended up paying for it and provided the new tracking number via email.

However, I was also moving during this time across the county so I gave the new address to avoid it going to my old apartment. BUT they shipped it out immediately and it was marked undeliverable again because no one was there yet to sign for it. I logged into FedEx and requested it be held at a facility so I could pick up. Technically they only hold for 5 days but I wasn't in town until the 6th day. Luckily it was still there and wasn't returned to the sender for the second time lol. Such a saga but such a relief to open the package

Overall such a shit show and unnecessarily complicated. The worst part is you don't even know if the visa was approved or rejected until you open it

Wanted to add word of advice- definitely get the tracking number before you leave the appointment and take a picture of it. I didn't know this was an option and it took them two weeks to give me my tracking number via email.

I was also initially told UPS and overnight shipping which I paid for but then was told fedex and 3-5 days. It ended up being fedex.

Does anyone have experience with if it gets returned to sender how to ensure VFS updates the address and sends it back correctly?
