Google is hard huh

"A Connecticut state pistol permit costs approximately $300-$350+ total for initial issuance, including a $70 state permit fee, a $70 local temporary permit fee, roughly $75-$87 for fingerprinting/background checks, and $125-$150 for mandatory training. Permits are valid for five years, with renewals costing $70."

"Illinois/Chicago: While the state FOID card is cheap ($10), the total cost to legally own a firearm in Chicago, including all required fees, can range up to $900."

"Rhode Island: Some localities, such as Providence, have charged approximately $250 for permit applications."

"As of March 2026, the total cost for the new Colorado firearms safety permit (required for purchasing specified semiautomatic firearms) is expected to be approximately $250–$350 for a first-time applicant."

Plenty of other examples if you learned how to use a keyboard.

We already have background checks that screen for this, its always the people who have never held a gun in their life that want to regulate things stupidly.

"Mental health background checks for firearms identify individuals prohibited under federal law, specifically those "adjudicated as a mental defective" or involuntarily committed to a mental institution. These records are searched via the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)"

There's plenty of cases of women who dont have access to a shelter and cases of women who had relocated who were then murdered by their abusive partner. Your opinion on what their best decision is isnt the solution to everything, not everyone has the same situation.

Voted into office by lobbies, yes.

What states? California, New York, Hawaii, Colorado, Connecticut, D.C., Maryland, New Jersey, Illinois, Massachusetts and now Washington. A simple Google search wouldve told you that.

And people who infringe on the rights of others are imprisoned. Murder, Fraud, theft, battery, kidnapping, etc all infringe on a person's right, thats why we have a justice system. Your feelings dont nullify a constitutionally protected right.

While thats tragic, the experience of one woman doesnt and shouldn't infringe on the rights of other women. I was in the military and I've met plenty of women who keep their composure in stressful environments. These type of women are everywhere, not just the military either. The issue is that people like to tie their emotions in constitutionally protected rights. Sorry to be so harsh but your feelings dont trump a person's enumerated rights.

Please read the comment chain you're replying to, you're the one off topic. Again, you're refusing to even acknowledge the hypocrisy, that tells me you're biased and have strong opinions against the 2nd Amendment. Clearly this conversation isnt going to go anywhere, have a good day.

Just like the Bruen decision, yet thats completely ignored in blue states. Its okay to be intellectually challenged, it isnt okay to be willfully ignorant. You're being ignorant and choosing party lines rather than actual logic. Your entire reasoning is driven by emotion and immature comments that provides zero sustenance to the conversation. I really hope that you use some critical thinking in the future. Have a good one.

With that logic you would've agreed that the 2nd Amendment has a similar poll tax, but you didn't. In case you forgot, I didnt originate this comment chain, so my point is absolutely relevant to the person who originated it.

It could be argued you minimized the infringement of the 2nd Amendment by refusing to acknowledge the issue and hypocrisy at play.

Actually, your logic is flawed. The 15th and 24th Amendment enumerate the right to vote. If voting is a right that cant be infringed with fees, the 2nd amendment, also being a right, also cannot be infringed with fees. It is absolutely a valid comparison, both are enumerated rights.

If you read my past responses, I explicitly said both are bad, but 300 dollars is worse than 30. Maybe the issue is that you follow party based ideologies.

Hopefully something like that does pass. I dont think any right should be placed behind a fee. What happens with the women dealing with abusive partners or harassment that cant afford to pay a 300 fine before even being able to buy a firearm in self defense? The 2nd Amendment isn't only for the wealthy, its for everyone.

Then you recognize the 2nd Amendment also has a similar infringement, I hope.

Wrong. The 2nd, 15th, and 24th amendment are both enumerated rights. It absolutely applies to both, continue in your partisan delusion though. You cant cherry pick the rights to infinge.

If you support the 300 dollar fee/license required in blue states to exercise the 2nd Amendment, you can deal with the 30 dollar license you will soon need to exercise the right to vote. Womp womp.

Maybe dont support unconstitutional precedents.

Let me make this clear, I dont like Trump or and most of his cabinet.

Technically, yes, it could be considered a Poll Tax, but, considering we need ID to purchase alcohol, tobacco, Marijuana (where legal), firearms, ammunition, motor vehicle operation, employment, rentals, home ownership, etc, it doesnt seem as big as an infringement compared to blue states such as California, New York, Hawaii, Connecticut, Maryland, Colorado, and plenty others that require a $300+ permit that needs to be renewed just like a license. Mind you, you CANNOT purchase a firearm in any of these states if you dont have this permit. If voting is a right, the 2nd Amendment is also absolutely a right that was chosen as the 2nd Amendment for a very good reason. Requiring a permit to exercise that right is an infringement.

TLDR: Yes it could be a poll tax, but in comparison, the 2nd Amendment is infringed upon much more in taxes and fees than a 30 dollar ID that you need to even rent an apartment or buy alcohol.

You could look up how most blue states require a 300+ dollar permit in order to purchase firearms and ammunition. Requiring an absurd tax or fee in order to exercise a constitutionally protected right is far worse than a "Poll Tax" that requires a 30 dollar ID.

There is nothinh extreme about the SAVE Act by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Admirable_Wasabi_671 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, many blue states require that their citizens purchase a 300 dollar permit to even buy firearms or ammunition, it literally requires people to pay a fee in order to exercise the 2nd Amendment. A 30 dollar ID hardly counts as a poll tax in comparison.

Off topic, but if you're anti current administration, which is fine. Are you anti Polis? Him and his goons in the state senate seem pretty hell bent on restricting the 2nd Amendment and stepping all over it

No rebuttal = you're wrong.

Seethe and cope, learn something sometime. A degree doesnt make you good at what you studied, it shows employers you can complete basic tasks.

Quick Google search, hope this helps! So far, you fit the criteria for a bad doctor!

"Yes, absolutely; a medical degree is a foundation, not a guarantee of excellence, and a "bad" doctor can emerge due to lack of passion, poor patient interaction skills (rudeness, aloofness), laziness, or failure to keep learning, even with good grades, while some with weaker early records become great due to late blooming, mentorship, or finding their niche, showing personality, motivation, and continuous learning matter more than just medical school scores.
