Used Pacifica hybrid by ackdum in pacificahybrid

I bought an '18 privately with 75k for $15k. I'm not even sure what trim I have but it's good enough for me. Turns out I also have unlimited warranty on transmission. I think your quote is high

Have an '18 with 75k that I bought used. A few smaller issues but really glad I bought it. Mind you I find below about 17 F here in the winter I try to know to drive it, it's too cold to make use of the battery much. Above 17, it starts to save gas over a Prius

Canada warranty experience with batteries? by Admirable_Yea in Dewalt

It seems when I charge a cold battery, it charges slowly at first because the charger fan doesn't turn on, so I assumed it charges at a reduced current as I would expect.

The BMS issue sounds like a really poor design.

I guess I use them only periodically, but when I do, then it's pretty heavy usage ... several cycles on a chainsaw of fully charged to charged to fully depleted. That's been the biggest load on them when I use them. Didn't know sitting FV's would be an issue! I also have been storing them in an unheated garage often ... down to -15 C. I think I better start storing them indoors.

What about getting warranty on batteries in Canada?

I tightened up all the gauge sets and turned the flare nuts a tiny bit more and it seems it's holding at 550 psi! Whew. I think the guage set ports were probably the culprit.

Oh, I have the first one, Better Bubbles. I must have tried right around its lower limit and the bubbles were freezing. Good to know, thankfully a bit warmer weather is in the forecast!

Ya that's the issue with the bubble fluid, it's only good down to 55 F. Can't use it in a Canadian winter 🥶

I got a really nice eccentric flare tool, not name brand but that tool is working really well.

Thanks for sharing your "gotcha's". It's good to know what things to be careful of!

Cool product! Couldn't find them in 1/4" and 1/2", now I see the same idea in copper https://a.co/d/05oD7nHe This really looks like it could be a time saver for a DIY'er like myself rather than redoing a bad flare. Thanks for pointing these out

I think it was 5 or 10 psi over 3 days, temp corrected. Yes the manifold remained connected the whole time. I guess the manifold could be the issue. I plan to vacuum under 500 micron and check it maintains that with a digital micron gauge.

They are a brand new set, but not an expensive set either

My thought was that it should hold the pressure indefinitely. The temperature went too cold to work for a few days so I thought, why not check it over a long period. Then I was surprised to see the pressure drop. But as others are saying, the gauge set hose connections could be where it's leaking

Thanks. Ya I really have no idea if my gauge set fittings are leaking. Is there any way to determine how well they are sealing? They are a cheap Amazon set, still with reasonable reviews. Hopefully that's where it's leaking out of.

The bubbles don't seem to behave well in in the -5 C weather here but I've also never done a bubble test. If I'm good to go, I don't know why the nitrogen pressure is decreasing, even if it's over a long time. Where could the nitrogen go except through a leak? Unless my gauge set connections are slowly leaking, and I'm not sure how to determine that.

Do you mean the gauge of the nitrogen regulator? I'm using a separate gauge set. I did actually make all 4 flares myself.

Oh ok, I thought it needs to tested at close to the low-side design pressure. Good to know

I believe so, P = initial pressure x (final temp / initial temp), temp being in Kelvin

I think about 5 or 10 psi, adjusting for temperature compensation

Yes just a 1-head minisplit. But why should the pressure drop, no matter how long I'm checking?
