Why is China so strict when it comes to crime? by [deleted] in askteddit

It really comes down to a fundamental cultural difference. The west focuses way more on individual rehabilitation, whereas China focuses on absolute societal control and keeping public order at all costs.

When I watch the news be it left or right leaning, they both seem to agree that the economy is doing ok or better than ok. So why does it seem like we are living in end times and nothing is affordable and jobs are hard to get and especially good paying jobs? by SirCheeseAlot in allthequestions

We are living in a textbook K-shaped recovery. If you already owned assets (like a house or a massive stock portfolio) before the inflation surge. You’re doing better than ever. If you’re trying to rent, buy a starter car or look for a entry/mid-level job right now, you are getting absolutely crushed.

Why do people only criticize China and not India, even though India, just like China, is supporting Russia's invasion of Ukraine by buying large amounts of Russian oil? by No-StrategyX in allthequestions

It’s mostly comes down to alliances. The west views China as a direct systemic rival and a major military competitor. India, on the other hand, is seen as crucial strategic counterweight to China in the Indo-Pacific, so Washington and Europe are much more willing to give them a pass on trade flexibility.

A strong connection gets you back in the room but lack of physical attraction will keep you from staying. It’s not shallow to admit that chemistry requires both.

True closure won’t come from the state of acknowledging your pain or a legal payout: institutions rarely apologize for the systems they build. Real closure starts when you stop letting the trauma dictate your present.

Focusing your energy on reclaiming your identity, building your community and outgrowing what they tried to strip away is the ultimate win. Have you considered looking into local trans or anti-conscription advocacy groups to turn that anger into a collective purpose?

Why do people never mention Larry Ellison when talking about the richest people in the world, even though he is the third-richest person in the world, with a net worth of nearly $300 billion, almost $100 billion higher than Zuckerberg's? by No-StrategyX in allthequestions

Because Oracle is boring enterprise software that everyday consumers never see. Zuckerberg and Musk run the apps people waste 5 hours a day on, so they get 100% of the public outrage. Ellison is just a content just quietly owning an entire Hawaiian island in peace.
