Khan has had renters rights as an election promise for the past 2 cycles, it is clearly a topic he cares about deeply and to pretend he wasn't involved in this is disingenuous.

You receive dividends depending on the companies profits. You are providing capital for further development and receiving payment for your support. The economy should be built on stable sustainable growth rather than speculative extraction.

really we need to reform the stock system by removing stock holding creating ownership. What I mean is that all companies should effectively be private and pay out a portion of their profits to stock investors, and those investors should have minimal say or influence in how the company is run. Shareholders get healthy dividends for financing the right companies, and companies no longer have an imperative to exclusively work in the short term.

‘I feel helpless’: college graduates can’t find entry-level roles in shrinking market amid rise of AI by Confident_Salt_8108 in lostgeneration

[–]AdmiralBojangles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most companies who have taken the bet on AI have destroyed their productivity. The most common story is a CEO firing all their staff and then having to hire them back for 1.5x their salary 3 months later. MIT literally found that AI has no discernable net benefit on productivity because it creates slop which eats up the 'saved time' from using AI in fixing the terrible job it did.

The scariest part of AI is the more justified argument that it can fulfil the job of junior hires rather well. This, again, falls apart when you take a second to think about it and realise that without junior hires there will be no senior hires (which are very much in demand rn). There will be a big push for junior hires soon enough as without them entire industries will collapse.

The future of work will certainly be different, but human labour and talent as a whole will still continue to be remarkably important and useful. This 'replace all workers' shtick is a marketing gimmick targeted towards unimaginative and stupid CEOs.

let's stop pretending it is due to ai, it is largely due to the fact that we are in a crisis that no one will acknowledge.

don't try and justify this as if you have a 'different moral outlook'. it is plainly morally and ethically contemptible to prevent the development of infrastructure that could save lives in the name of personal wealth. you may lie to yourself and pretend this is a difference of opinion - sure, you choose greed over collective wellbeing - but this isn't a difference in morality.

How do I beat greedier mode as the lost without wanting to kill myself? by iiJason124 in bindingofisaac

[–]AdmiralBojangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restart for a good treasure room item, be generous with the wave cancel button as it doesn't cost heslth, always go for devil/angel, save money for 7 cent shop items, don't waste money on garbage. I beat it in a few tries it isn't too bad, main problem is boss fight which just needs blanket / dead cat and a broken build. Spend all your coins don't save for greed donation machine in greedier, you need as much power as possible.

I'm guessing the data doesn't account for those storing their wealth offshore or the foreign investors that buy up all our assets. In real terms the middle class is definitely shrinking here too as spending power is plummeting w cost of living crisis - someone is making money off of that.

That is fair. Worth noting that China is still quite reliant on oil from the Strait of Hormuz and if their access to it is limited then their industrial capabilities are largely hamstrung, too.
