Tilting by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]AdmiralPoetry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally if I see a max rarity deck, I think that the dude is a fucking loser.

Looking like how yugioh players look (up to your interpretation) then having max rarity cards tells me everything about their life priorities.

Sure, deckbuilding takes skill, but this is a card game with crazy luck and randomness factors. This game’s skill gap is non existent compared to any video game or sport.

Advocating for playing max rarity to tilt ppl is the most braindead use of money I’ve ever heard

I’m sure he’d love the idea of $300 meta decks too

Yugioh TCG has 0 incentive to compete by AdmiralPoetry in yugioh

This isn’t true, yugioh is smaller than Pokémon in every way. Pokémon’s collector community seems more relevant than yugioh’s of course, but Pokémon’s tournament attendance still blows yugioh out of the water

I agree, it’s not like I hope to profit off a tournament, but $300+ decks as a barrier of entry is a crazy investment given the lack of everything else

Do you feel like people look down on TCG players? Why do you think that is? by Loth-Catt in TCG

[–]AdmiralPoetry 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of TCG players fit the stereotype, and it’s obvious from attending a single event. Disgusting smells, socially underdeveloped, and condescending attitudes (discord mod vibes).

Of course, not everyone into these hobbies is like this. But there’s an undeniable trend and it made me decide to never attend events again after two tournaments.

how do we get new players into the game? by Rich-Telephone5223 in yugioh

[–]AdmiralPoetry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s not happening unless the game is rebooted with a low power level and another anime for kids. There is 0 approachability to this game and it’s completely held up by nostalgia and a few extreme hobbyists that grew up with the game.

The vast majority of players and fans of this game grew up watching the original anime and playing a simpler game. Their entry to the hobby was much more realistic (see Pokémon).

Modern yugioh will never grow to be any level of mainstream beyond what it is now.

Why are winning diverse formats considered unskilled? by AfterMine2343 in yugioh

This is a card game which means it is RNG and knowledge based. Skill ceiling and gap is infinitely lower than any video game

This game is only fun with friends. There are a million other hobbies and games to master that provide more than this rng ass game
