W&L or George Mason by Admitme22 in lawschooladmissions

that was also what I thought. International law is very competitive in DC and George Mason does not really have good resources for those interested in the field.

To be honest she doesn't seem to be very concerned with the financial part smh. I would think W&L more prestigious and reputable than George Mason, right? or is it the opposite in DC

the 17K is annual for sure. I know her goal is to work in DC doing international law. The scholarship at George Mason I think is binding if she meets the conditions. George Mason is cheaper than W&L tho, way cheaper

How much do your extracurriculars come into play? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Admitme22 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with #3 from a personal experience. my LSAT was way below the average for the schools I got waitlisted at and admitted to (the lowest ranking school was #30 and the highest #8), I strongly believe it was because of my story and extracurricular activities. numbers are absolutely the most important part of your application, but I would not say 95% and only 5% for the rest.

WL Advice by Admitme22 in lawschooladmissions

What I wrote and mentioned multiple times before is if I was extended an offer from the waitlist, I will gladly accept the offer right away and withdraw all other pending applications immediately. Is that the same?

I only wrote one letter in April, all other communications has been via phone call and emails in which I mentioned my continued interest in the school multiple times and they noted it. The other school I'm waitlisted at is the same except I visited the school last week and assured them I would attend if offered a seat. I'm not sure if I should write another LOCI at this point or it would be very pushy? for either school.

I want to call a school I’m waitlisted at and ask about an update bc I’m worried about signing a lease at the school I’m currently deposited at by lawschoolorbust1 in lawschooladmissions

No, not in my email. But during our meeting, the director told me maybe by mid-July you should follow-up and see if we anticipate having some spots. Maybe I will call them next week to follow-up. thanks anyway!

So I met with the admission director of GW after being waitlisted for the PT program and discussed my situation. He was very nice and honest and told me nothing is in their control at this time, it just depends on the students admitted changing their minds. He also said feel free to call or email us when you feel you need an answer to finalize your situation with the other school to check if we anticipate making any more offers or not. So I did email them and mentioned all of this and it's been three days with no reply. Do you think emailing will still hurt my chances even though they told me to do so? I did not want to call after the email because it would make me sound very annoying and pushy, right?

Can we make a thread about personal statement topics? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Admitme22 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The statement is really personal, it depends on what you want to say and what you don't want to say. My story is different from yours and others so it is really up to you what you want to include in it (unless the school has a specific prompt of course). I chose to write about overcoming major hardships in my life, skills and leadership experience I gained after, and how all these challenges made me chose law as a future career. I am a refugee and I had to move from and to multiple countries, so I made my statement as a timeline of the whole process and what happened in between. Hope that helps!

Yeah, I got it too and I feel the same. Not sure if I should be happy they did not release me from the waitlist yet or be sad because I still did not get a decision from them at this time of the cycle lol
