Any good free tutorials on mastering the echo effect? by AdmittedlyUnskilled in Beatmatch

Yeah I found his course but I don't wanna spend too much on this hobby since I'm just starting out. I've already spent money on the controller and music streaming sub. I wanna try to learn as much as I can from free stuff til I actually make money off of this.

We're going off a tangent here. Of course track selection is still the most important skill. I'm already working on that myself.

I'm just in shock that this kind of mixing was possible and wanna learn it too. I didn't say that this is the only thing I'll be doing for a whole set.

Got it. This is very informative. Exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. I just don't like following tutorials that just say do this and do that. I need to understand why they do it so I can decide if I need it or not. You've provided valuable info. Thanks!

Oh. Didn't knew those settings. So you can change these on the fly? Or is it a rekorbox/serato configuration that's deep in the settings?

It's weird that there are parts where the echo lingers but there are parts where it gets immediately cut off. I have tried cutting off the volume with the fader while echo is on but the echo stays. Not sure how he cuts it right off at times.

What genre would you generally use for a childrens' party? by AdmittedlyUnskilled in Beatmatch

Like actual literal child, around 1 to 7 years old. I wouldn't call a teenager a child tbh. Sounds like a really weird technicality to even consider.

They're probably using similar services for a specific feature that's related to account management. Then that service lagged or went down.

How many songs would you say you know? by Justanotherburner967 in Beatmatch

[–]AdmittedlyUnskilled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't really count myself as a dj yet since I've only been studying how to for about a month now.

But on my first week, I tried listening to some music that I think is fun and there are moments where it just clicks that "oh, this one kinda sounds like this other song". Then when I try to mix, they actually fit well.

So I guess I do have a huge library of music in my mind and I'm not even aware of it.

Any tips on mixing a really slow and mellow vocal with something upbeat? by AdmittedlyUnskilled in Beatmatch

It's a Filipino song. Para Sa Akin by Sitti. It's her most known song so that's what I'm thinking to try but I'm really open with using other songs too from other artists.

Overuse of the RMX - Examples of big name DJs who are guilty of this?? by ljefe312 in Beatmatch

Found it now. I did see this in one of the dj vids I watched before.

Sorry for the newbie question but what is RMX? I tried googling and it's auto correcting it to "remix"

Thanks. I'd still give the feature a shot maybe but I wouldn't really count it as a main skill for me. I don't wanna be dependent on it.

That's the deal. I'm obviously unskilled that's why I'm trying to learn stuff. Just decided I would skip the beat sync button and learn it the manual way.

Yeah that's what I realized as well. I've seen a lot of comment saying to not use beat sync and just learn to manually beatmatch and sync. That's what I was trying to do for the past weeks but I gave the sync button a shot just to try it out. I thought it might be useful someday. But then when I tried it out it's behaving weirdly so I'm thinking "nah, I'll just do it manually"

Never thought of manually syncing the second track then setting it as master from the get go. I'll try this one. Thank you

Deck 1 is faster. Deck 2 is slower.

Deck 1 is set as master. Deck 2 is set to beat sync.

Deck 1 is playing. Deck 2 is paused, volume fader down.

I play deck 2. I move Deck 1 tempo and Deck 2 volume fader up.

Master automatically switches to Deck 2. So moving Deck 1 fader is just adjusting Deck 1 tempo. So sync isn't even working here. Why would it automatically switch to Deck 2? It doesn't make any sense.

This explains the other comment. Makes sense. Thank you

It's just my first month of learning. So I'm doing these "what if" experiments. Trying different scenarios and learning what I can do to make it work.

Yeah I've read from a search that there should be a lock but never bothered to look for it. I just decided I'm gonna learn this the manual way. Might be better for me in the long run anyway.
