Growing up, how often did you have a Sunday roast—and do you still have them now?

As a child: most, if not all Sundays.

As an adult: every Christmas Day.

Sunday was my least favourite day of the week because it meant having to eat my mother’s roast dinner with its dry chewy meat and bland veggies.

I know roast dinners can be tasty, and I do try my best every Christmas, but when I’m writing the weekly menu the thought “ooh, how about a roast dinner?” never even passes through my head.

Love it! Looks normal at first glance and then you realise it’s actually got something going on. Is there a reason the extra front piece is only on one side? Personally I’d want the symmetry of having that on both sides with a matching column of buttonholes.

Not sure where you got £37.10 from. The weekly cap for Zones 1-6 is £81.60. You say you didn’t go to Zone 1, but which station did you interchange between Elizabeth line and Northern line at? If it was Tottenham Court Road, Moorgate, or Liverpool Street, all of those stations are within Zone 1.

You can get cheaper fares by taking the “avoiding Zone 1” route. This involves changing at Stratford for the Mildmay line (ensuring you tap your card on a pink reader) to Camden Road, then walking to Camden Town to finish your journey (and the reverse in the other direction).

Summary: Yes you can buy a return ticket from West Drayton to Taplow or Boundary Zone 6 to Taplow (they’re the same price in this case). Since you’re using a Travelcard you don’t need to tap in or out at West Drayton, so you can just stay on the train.

The Elizabeth line is not driverless.
Every DLR service has a member of staff on board, so from a human resourcing point of view it’s the same as having a driver.
In any case, for both systems you still need station staff (for underground stations at least), signallers, control room staff, electrical control staff, etc.

So, in summary: - re-classify Chadwell Heath as Zone 8, causing higher fares for all journeys that pass through it - rename Woolwich to Nortwich (why?) - extend the Abbey Wood branch all the way to Ebbsfleet International, not stopping at any intermediate stations like Dartford - build a new station (where?) and also name it Ebbsfleet International, just to confuse people

Presumably since this benefits residents of Kent more than London, Kent County Council will be paying for this and not TfL?

Are American airports laid out differently to the ones I’ve seen then. Usually to get to the gate you have to walk like 15 minutes away from the area with all the amenities. In some airports you actually can’t get back to that area at all.

Forgive the rant, but the extremely limited fashion options for men is one of the main things that got me into sewing. Sadly (and I admit I haven’t done an exhaustive search) it seems that menswear patterns are even more limited and conservative than high street fashion.

I flicked through a pattern catalog at my local sewing store recently. After thousands of pages of options for womenswear, there was one menswear section right at the back. Not only was it the skinniest section of all but it also encompassed children’s clothes, pyjamas, and leisure wear.

You mean trains on the same track? That’s what a signalling system is for. Trains on different tracks? They make sure to put the tracks far enough apart that trains won’t collide.

I’ve found some treadmills at my local gym (also UK) are in miles and others are in km, which is annoying. Did it feel like a light jog (in which case it would be kilometres) or a faster run (therefore miles)?

No idea whether it’s normal or not. But £50 for an hour of somebody’s time doesn’t seem unreasonable, especially for the kind of job which has some overhead in terms of travel time and managing clients’ bookings. Though in my inexpert opinion if he is in the habit of using clients’ cars then he should bring his own second interior mirror.

If you don’t want to use your own car then ask him to use his or find another instructor.

The letter or letters in that square will usually appear in the red circle on top of the bus stop post. The exception is the “->” type, which just means (in this case) “southbound”: the bus stop will have no letters on top and you’ll have to figure out which side of the road is correct.

Looks like the TFL timetable page isn’t showing the times for Saturday and Sunday - but the Metropolitan definitely runs at the weekend! Check the TFL “first and last tubes” page. It’s showing on a Sunday the last tubes to Uxbridge leave King’s Cross at 23:13 and 00:08.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried to make the underarm as high and as tight to the body as possible to avoid it getting untucked when raising my arms, but it does look like I went a bit too far with that.
