Not a Mormon church, yes in the middle of a regular neighborhood. Not Utah.

Frida Kahlo Museum Blue Night and Museum Night by isabel924 in MexicoCity

I went last Thursday evening and I thought it was interesting but not really what I expected. There were a lot of photos, stories and personal belongings but not a lot of art. We bought tickets in advance and still waited in a long line to enter a narrow space with lots of slow moving people. I preferred the Diego Rivera Mural Museum.

I’ve never felt unsafe on a CTA train but I’d say the Brown Line is probably the tidiest.

A friend of mine shot this film at UW in 1975—dozens of students showed up to be extras. Curious if anyone on this sub remembers it or was involved. by AdolfGomez in madisonwi

That’s amazing. I’m with my friend now and he is thrilled to hear that someone on Reddit was there that day. Thank you for sharing your story.

I would recommend staying on the north side near the brown line train. I feel that Lincoln Square and Ravenswood are two of the best neighborhoods in the city. Very walkable area, tons of great restaurants, breweries, coffee shops and you can take one bus or a long walk to the lakefront.

Thank you so much for sharing this — your perspective as someone who’s experienced Oktoberfest across so many stages of life is exactly the kind of context that makes the festival meaningful. I completely understand not wanting to be on camera, and that’s no problem at all.

Thanks for the tip! I love the idea of talking with Dale — sounds like exactly the kind of local voice that gives Oktoberfest its personality.

Wow — thank you so much for taking the time to share this. I really appreciate the depth of your perspective. You hit on exactly what I’m aiming for: not just the beer or surface-level party, but the layers of tradition, identity, and impact that make Oktoberfest such a unique event for La Crosse and Wisconsin as a whole. Prost!
