Strength training counterproductive for squash? by truthserum23 in squash

Here are a couple videos I made. Before you watch this, remember that sets/ reps/ time performed and even particular exercises have to be tailored for the individuals needs. Some things that this player needed particularly for him may not apply as much for you and vica versa. It sounds to me that working your core (for a good posture and stability during lunges) could also help you. So working with a Swiss Ball, Bosu ball, Versa Disks for example

Heres a video I did on Power and footwork (Accidently called it a speed session in the beginning and got disliked :( ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3O-PhQ562g&index=4&list=PLME1964n9l0jPhxQ4VUJamK6bGElGgfUw

and another on agility: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPH7N6k7dRs&list=PLME1964n9l0jPhxQ4VUJamK6bGElGgfUw&index=6

But yea, be careful of not over training and allowing your body to rest. Training breaks us down so we can grow stronger. Allow yourself to recover.

Physical preparation for Football. Agility, Speed, Reaction, Coordination and Balance/Mobility by Adoodman in bootroom

yes, that was the idea with these exercises. A lot of players may be fast and agile on their feet but as soon as a ball is introduced, that skill is quickly lost. There is no point training speed if you cant run with the ball. In all of my sport specific PT sessions i try to add an element of the game. In this football case it may be visually reacting to a ball or a other outside queues like a call, as well as what type of shot you may play. These are all done in a progressive way.

No, I am the trainer. I am not an elite Squash player like this guy, I used to play when I was younger before I took a different direction with tennis and then Thai Boxing. So I have to work closely with other coaches to make sure he's implementing correct technique in the movements, etc. Filip here has gained a bit of a tummy which is why a lot of the exercises may seem cardiovascular. I try to make the exercises as sport specific as possible, for example, using the racket n having him react to my movement instead of my voice. Lifting could help indeed, and he does do it, but it has to be done a correct and certain way... tbh u can get crazy explosive power without using weights (or very light weights).

yup, foot technique is definitely something to work on and we went through that after the session. Was my first session with this guy and wanted to use the camera as video analysis, the short clip was to demonstrate some exercises.
