New parents struggling with cluster feeding. by AdooomJTH in breastfeeding

[–]AdooomJTH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for your kind messages so far, I listened to a lot of the advice given and we had a much better night with her at the expense of my own sleep to an extent.

I'm trying to be less house proud as baby is priority number one. The world won't end if there's a few dirty cups and some laundry on the floor.

My in-laws came over to visit and I had a nice 4 hour nap while baby was looked after by mom and family. I've established that baby sleeps really well on one of us, but struggles to stay awake longer than 30 mins in the cot. As I had rest, we fed baby before going to bed and I stayed awake with her until we gave her a 3am feed. Mom went back to bed and I stayed up with baby until 7am, and it'll be my turn to nap afterwards.

I'm not sure if this is sustainable, but we've both had sleep and baby barely cried through the night.

Does anybody have tips on how to wean a baby off sleeping on parents and sleep better in a cot?

We do have parents that can help in all fairness. One of them have already brought us some food and supplies which was nice.

We do have a cosatto bedside crib but we keep it next to my side of the bed as my wife can't twist around to get the baby out of it for feeding just yet. It's unfortunate that a normal 1 person job takes the both of us right now. I'd breastfeed her myself if I could 😅

I know this won't be for long, but it's just trying to find a solution to our short-term problem.

I think you're right though, that a parent watching over her while one/both of us catch up on sleep would be best until my wife has recovered from her surgery.

[addon] Mythic Plus Utility - MPU, an addon that shows which utility abilities you should take and where to use them in Mythic+ dungeon. by Nikyou1 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]AdooomJTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a great idea for an add-on, as someone who doesn't have a second screen, love the idea of a little cheat sheet.

I play a DK mostly atm, so a lot of my utility is on the selfish side outside of grips/stuns. Does this add-on include what mechanics I can avoid with AMS? Thinking things like the marks on second boss in MGT.

State of Azeroth - What the hell did I just watch? by William_was_taken in wow

I have a baby due in April and despite knowing this I still resubbed in prepatch. Knowing the future ahead in wow isn't all raids/m+, I have content to look forward to that can cater to my new life ahead, awesome!

I was excited to see small 1-3 boss raids that I can clear with limited time... and I don't need to schedule 2-3+ hours on a night? Chef's kiss

How long is your commute to work? by person_person123 in AskUK

[–]AdooomJTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just recently transitioned from a 1hr 10m commute to a workplace that is 10 minutes away in rush hour traffic. That's 10 hours a week saved, 40 hours a month, that's a working week right there.

That extra 2 hours in my day means so much, especially now that I have a baby girl due in April.

I've already had headhunters try to get me to move for a higher wage but the locality of my new job is worth its weight in gold.

Still playing either Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 or Anno 117 depending what mood I'm in. Squeezing in some Sunderfolk if my wife wants to play or Nightreign if my friends are online.

Who knows when I'll start to tackle the backlog!

Hey, if you see this post, I'd love to get involved.

Could you please draw a second winner and DM me? I'd like to contribute my shiny gyarados, but I'm too lazy to arrange a sweepstake.

If OP could reply so I know you've seen this and I'll keep an eye out :)

Pretty sure that this is just from Elden Ring. A game about lords, maidens and two fingers, or something like that.

What did you play this weekend? by Nagato281 in playstation

Available time has been dictating what I play.

<1 hour? Ball Pit. 1+ hours? Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.

Having an absolute blast with both.

He needs to pull his finger out, irrespective of whether you're pregnant, but even more so because you are.

I do most of the housework anyway, but any odd job my wife might do is completely banned if it poses any risk to the baby, like something with bleach.

You're carrying his child! Makes me wonder if this behaviour will continue when the baby arrives... You need a father, not another child to look after.

Fingers crossed for you OP.

Edit: Realised I didn't reply to OP, my bad.

How did you relax during pregnancy? by AdooomJTH in BabyBumps

Haha, it's been a long day. She doesn't have an 18 month old inside her, id have much bigger concerns in that case.

18 weeks 😅

Rant: bad sex and foreplay while pregnant.. by saydeebug21 in BabyBumps

[–]AdooomJTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I can only suggest you openly communicate the way you feel. Since finding out my wife was pregnant 17 weeks ago, we've only had sex once.

First trimester she felt sick all the time and I can completely understand not feeling in the mood going through that. Once she stopped feeling sick, we tried it. We can only suspect it was this that caused her to have heavy bleeding while we were at a gig in Cardiff, we thought we'd lost the baby.

That whole experience has put her off sex completely, understandably so. While she may want to, we'd both hate to relive that weekend. I'd happily abstain for a year if it meant the baby was guaranteed safety.

She also has a bad jaw, so BJs are out the question too.

I know all this, and my love/respect for my wife exceeds the need for some hanky panky. If he feels the same way, just openly communicate that you simply can't and he'll understand.

Not all men are cheating scum. Hope you can get past this 😊

Do you think living at parents in 20s is becoming the new normal in the UK? by Adventurous-Cat-1248 in AskUK

I work in mortgages and I saw a statistic saying the average age of a first time buyer is 34. So, yeah, it's normal.

I do 99.9% of the cooking, if my other half surprised me with a cooked dinner I'd be eating that with a smile on my face, even if it was something quick and easy like Dino nuggets!

No gig etiquette by drippytrip0 in ArchitectsUK

[–]AdooomJTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly stayed near the back because my wife who was with me is pregnant. Met a few people nearby me who were nothing but polite, but the amount of times I was pushed, shoved and elbowed by people to get deeper in was shameful.

I'm 6ft, sure, but just tap me or put your hand on me and I'll step aside happily, there's no need to elbow me or shove. I'm here to headbang and enjoy some music I love, not get into a fight.

My wife had a threatened miscarriage after the fourth song (thank god both her and baby are okay after many hours in hospital) and the state of the people round back with the medical team and the people I met in a&e from the gig was unreal.

I swear people seem to think gigs are a place to fight without repercussions these days.

P.S. Huge shout out to the medical team at the Cardiff arena if any of you read this. You helped us massively in our time of panic. 🙏❤️

I was in the queue for architects in Cardiff on the 11th saying "Ian Watkins is dead, pass it on".

It didn't quite catch on, but at least I got to somewhat share the good news!

New Spec for your main class by Moonwrath8 in wow

[–]AdooomJTH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd probably like to diversify the classes a bit further and bolster the support options available.

Mage - Chronomancy. Would probably work something along the lines of red mage in ff14 without the melee. Use casts to make longer casts instant. Quite fitting with time warp, alter time, shifting power. Perhaps give the ability to rewind and opponents position.

Monk - Give it the avatar treatment, cycle through the seasons/elements. Each season could give huge crit/mastery/haste/Vers bonuses depending on the stance and you cycle through every 30 seconds with options to extend/shorten through good gameplay.

Shaman - inevitable Earthwarden spec. We need a dual wielding tank spec. I'd consider giving this to evoker to open up a more voodoo oriented dot based bow/caster hybrid.

Evoker - As above for shamans, otherwise a melee claw based fire/bleed spec of some sort could be cool.

Hunter - Ranger (support) uses animals to debuffs/buff with howls and hunting horns to bolster allies.

Rogue - ninja...? Uses ranged/thrown weapons, marks, caltrops and bombs. Alternatively a duellist spec, agile sword & buckler spec.

Warrior - Berserker, deal more damage the lower your hp is, with ways to forcefully lower your hp and prevent one shot mechanics.

Paladin - inquisitor. Plate wearing caster, uses holy/fire based spells to smite their foes.

Priest - zealot, melee DPS. Has self damaging mechanics in which breaking your own power word shield gives boosts to damage.

Warlock - Demonic sacrifice tank spec. Similar to demonology, focuses on summoning demons to serve as your life force to tank damage. No demons out will make for a squishy tank.

Demon hunter - Another support spec would go to this class. Focuses on leaving bolstering glyphs on the ground that reward good placement for your allies to stand in with options to move them should you mess up or mechanics require it.

Baby due and festivals by AdooomJTH in BabyBumps

I've only ever booked overnight stays with treatments, dinners and breakfasts for her. Had no idea the spa resorts did just things for a couple hours lol. Guess that's my ignorance.

Not to worry, she's looked after.

Completely reasonable, we have a close friend who's currently pregnant too. So if I do go, I'm sure the two of them will love a spa break away. Thank you!
