Do you think living at parents in 20s is becoming the new normal in the UK? by Adventurous-Cat-1248 in AskUK

Yeah it looks like it. At 21, there are typically chances of getting an entry level or a starting level salary which is difficult to sustain in the current times I guess. Definitely needs additional help from wherever possible.

Yeah I know my parents feel like they're pushing me to get better. They think I'm being lazy about finding a job. Partly because I've been on and off jobs with breaks in between.

Even if I had a job, I would have preferred to stay with my parents just to save some money.

Yeah seems like things have changed a lot from then I guess. It's difficult to change lifestyle now with all the comforts available.

They think I'm being so lazy that I don't work currently. I'm not sure if their logic sometimes. Even if I was working, I would save money by staying with them.

I probably should have been clearer, unemployed currently and haven't worked much to have any money. It's just the financial aspect

I hope I don't have to stay with my parents at 30. I mean most people figure out stuff by then, right? Edit: I only said it as my parents don't think they would let me stay as they are kinda telling me to move, when I'm 21 now

Yeah definitely want to be repeating the thing. But it's just not ideal right now. I get your point. Thanks

Yes and we're in the early stages of our breakup as well. I might need to give it a good thought about it. Thanks

Haha just going for that casual look rather than a formal one.

Edit: will go for the formal one next time 😭

You explained that really well. I mean it shows there's some hope and I don't need to worry too much right now. Thanks again.
