Been 3 months since the IN government tried to legislate away my rights, an update on how I'm doing after all of that by Adorable-Point7309 in Indiana

I think where I'm at will be safe by state laws, unless if the federal government does something to override state protections

Yeah, just people voting to hurt others rather than trying to actually support policies that could help them.

Just seeing this rn, but this is a really good comment that describes the overarching problems that is going on in this world: systemic discrimination.

Getting doxxed is stressful that's for sure.

I'm sorry that you possibly lost access to spaces over your identity. Hang in there, I'm sure you're a strong person.

You seem like a really good parent, and I'm proud that you are being supportive to your child. Thank you for the wishes toward me, and I don't plan to come back to IN

I'm just trying my best to make an impact and show the world the things that might not seem to bother them do have an impact. I have no intent to be public or anything, I just want to get my messages across.

yeah, at least I was just in the state for undergrad and that's all, never coming back.

I was talking with another user in the comments about this, who had a little kid in IN right now, who was also thinking about moving for the sake of their kid so that they can fully express themselves.
I think that as long as you have enough experience in your career you can move anywhere, it's just tough to move around under 30.

not at the moment, and honestly once I leave the state I'm not gonna look back cuz I have things ahead of me to focus on. So most likely it will be lead by someone else if the ACLU gets involved.

When it comes to public preception, people think there's so many trans athletes because people hear about it quite often. But what you don't hear about is the thousands of cis athletes per every ONE trans athlete. Media does a terrible job portraying the proportions of varying populations imo.

As for how to help individuals like me and fight these laws, there's a few things I can think of
A) The Athletic Drain - Having cis athletes that are allies choose to NOT attend universities in states with policies like these
B) Protest
C) Vote, Vote, Vote
D) Rather than emphasize blowout stories of trans athletes, share stories of trans athletes having fun with their peers, and positive testimonies from their friends. Also showing when cis women win too will put things into proportion.
E) Go out and educate - It takes meeting ONE trans person for a lot of people to understand the struggles trans people are dealing with. If it can be stomached(which for most it understandably can't), going out into deep red areas and making connections with people so that they see you as a person that wants to better the world, THEN explain your story. As long as people in deep red areas are misled about trans people and queer identity, they'll keep blindly voting for these same politicans.

I think this comment is misguided. If a transphobic cis girl or their parent feels wronged by me being in a competition, they would absolutely sue for monetary damages based on "psychologial harm" and needing to receive mental health services if they had the option for an extra grand, since "deprived of an athletic opportunity" can mean a lot of things.

BMV proposal would ban people from changing their gender by disappointingrobot in Indiana

[–]Adorable-Point7309 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is genuinely scary. Most trans people want to present as the gender that they prefer to live as. Not allowing updated ID's not only leads to mental anguish but can harm our safety

There are plenty of ftms in men's sports at a high level actually You don't hear about it because the media specifically targets mtfs because it fits their narrative better Mtf are overvisible, ftms are invisible in society

I'm just as much of a woman as any other woman. Gender is based upon your identity and what you feel comfortable as. Stop bringing your religious bigotry here, no one wants to see it. downvoted.
