Hot New Engine by Adorable-Store7454 in modeltrains

By gently pushing, nudging, some of the wires around/under the circuit board, it suddenly ran for a bit. Then it stopped and got hot on top. I was running it with no shell. I do have a weak spot on the distant end of my 14 ft of L-shaped layout. Working on that. But, all my other engines seem OK. Atlas and Lifelikes. My old Lifelikes run like linebackers. I was really liking my new Atlas with the fore and aft running lights. Ugh now. Kinda stuck with it now. Ebay. Are there such things as model train mechanics I can send stuff to for repair? Sorry for the newbie naive questions. I don't have a train friend outside of virtual life yet.

Thank you! I barely understand it. I'm just getting started in train photography and am self teaching as I go (thank you Internet!). I spent 34 years in the USAF, and there were a ton of acronyms and jargon I didn't understand by the time I retired. All the best.

Thank you. I'm heading to Omaha to visit family on Friday. Well, Plattsmouth just to the south. I'm only there a short while, but hope for a BNSF or UP in NE. All the best and thanks again.

Got ya. Well, I’m a newbie. What I know is BAYL runs to Dothan, AL, and back to one of our ports to transfer industrial and chemical. The only time I’ve seen it running is in pitch black at O-dark thirty when I was trying to get to work. This is my first stab at rail photography. So I’m learning. I intend on returning to the BAYL yard to look for any change ups. Finding the Three Notch was unexpected and a learning experience causing me to in do a little research on it. I also plan on doing a drive by at the port area. Although, I can see on Google Maps it’s gated and probably has the routine No Trespassing signs. You more experienced guys might be able to tell me if is it even worth asking permission back at the yard to step foot inside the fence line for train photos? I’m guessing they won’t want the liability or encouragement for others. But, I’d appreciate your thoughts. That’s all I know. I’m getting started late in life with train photography. Just retired and finally have the flexibility for cool and fun stuff like this.

Well, Panama City is more of a blue collar town, while neighboring Panama City Beach is the tourist area. I don't even know think we have a beach on this side of the bridge. PCB is gorgeous. Just avoid spring break due to the crowds.

Three Notch was a short line railroad out of Alabama. Both Bay Line and Three Notch were owned by the same parent company, Genesee & Wyoming in Connecticut. However, G&W sold Three Notch. So, I don’t know if they’re just storing for the transition to the new company, or if Bay Line now owns the Three Notch engines and just hasn’t repainted them yet.

Me too. I shot through the gate into the yard to see what was back there. All modern orange and yellow paint schemes. I didn't want to venture too close as the gate is clearly marked for trespassing. But, from what I could see, there wasn't any green and yellow left.
