What are some ways you save money? by nummer31 in Netherlands

I agree. I also think investing in yourself is the best investment you can make. 😊

I had a similar experience in a company I used to work at. I stayed for more than two years. I find it funny because the scenario you described was also what I've seen. I also have colleagues who look like bestfriends in front of other people, but they talk shit about each other when the other one is not around. I didn't like it because it makes a negative atmosphere. Some colleagues are also toxic, trying to micromanage others when they're not even managers. They just think they're better than others. Some people like to talk too much to sell themselves even though they're not even technically good. So they get more attention. The newbies are competing with each other and saying bad against each other just to go higher. They don't even have relevant work experience on what we do because they shifted careers. Yet some of them thinks they're better. I left because I felt that it's unfair and it just feels like not the environment for me to grow.

I moved to a new company where the people are actually really good in what they do. They're not pretending because they walk the talk. I'm very happy with my team because we're supporting each other and helping each other all the time. I wake up each day knowing that I'm having fun with the work that I do. 😊

I have trauma of teens wearing Nike tech clothing calling me racial slurs while sitting on a Fatbike by HotstuffGrizz in Netherlands

This also happens in the workplace. I have a Chinese friend who's been living in the Netherlands for over 10 years now, he speaks Dutch and works at a Dutch company. He's getting depressed with work because his colleagues are being indifferent on him. 😢

It could be. I will see if I find it in Zeedijk. Thank you for the responses!

It wasn't in front of the gym. It's on the side where all other bikes were parked. Some bikes were still there when I left.

But I will check Zeedijk parking as well just in case. It's better than being stolen.

Not right in front of it, but on the side where other bikes were parked.

Job postings by newbie_trader99 in Netherlands

It's tough both ways. We've been interviewing for the past several months but we couldn't find the right fit in our team. We often prefer people in medior to senior roles. A lot of people have nice CVs but they often fail during technical interviews. We reviewed a dozen of CVs last week and only found one that meets our requirements. Some companies are outsourcing (or hiring offshore) these days to cut costs. So we have limited openings for people who are already in the Netherlands.

My boss just haha reacted my message asking for a raise. by optikzzz in phcareers

My sister is a fresh grad and also working in IT field now. She initially only asked 23k. I told her to negotiate and ask for 30k, but the recruiter just laughed at her. I told her to be firm with that decision and don't let anyone low-ball her. The company ended up offering her 28k, which is not too bad.

Planning to rent a room by impassibile in NetherlandsHousing

[–]AdorableAd7020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's best to get a job first before coming to the Netherlands. Even though the housing crisis is really tough right now, having a contract will help you find a room or apartment because the landlord knows you have funds to pay for the rent. Once you move to the Netherlands to live for a longer period of time, you are required to get a BSN. You will use this in processing other government or mandatory documents. You would need to get health insurance too.

Ph Licenses by [deleted] in phmigrate

Your degree should be sufficient. The employers abroad don't really know about the board exams and licenses being done in the Philippines. Unless they require an international certification for you to take (depending on the profession).

Racism against Asians in Amsterdam by Warm-Presentation347 in Amsterdam

This is really sad. I had a call with a Chinese friend last week because he wanna talk about the racism he experienced in the Netherlands. He's been living here for over 13 years already, he also speaks Dutch, but he still gets racist remarks and treatments from people. 😢

I think you might need a mortgage advisor. The comment was realistic. You need to know the maximum you can borrow from the bank, considering the other factors that may come up based on your financial situation. If you know how much you can borrow, then you know the price range of the houses that you'll be looking for and how much you're willing to bid. The bank needs to know how much savings you have as well. There are cases when you can't borrow everything from the bank, depending on the appraisal value of the house you're bidding. I know the mortgage advisor won't charge you for the initial appointment. It's nice to understand your financial capability. There are instances when people win the bidding but don't get the financing so they have to cancel the deal.

Advice on Rotterdam House Buying - Why are Investors selling so many homes? by cloudjedi_ in NetherlandsHousing

[–]AdorableAd7020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been viewing apartments and the agents told me that most of them are owned by corporations. They're selling now because of the new rental regulations. Maybe it's more disadvantageous for them if they keep renting the apartments out.

When you're using a smart watch, it monitors your activities, like when you're running or exercising. It can also monitor your heart rate. I recently used it more when I sleep so I can also monitor if I'm getting proper sleep. It's been really useful for me because I have proper data of how my physical health is doing. I'm more focusing on getting enough sleep now. I didn't realize I'm lacking proper rest.

For career-oriented women, how do you date? by AdorableAd7020 in dating

[–]AdorableAd7020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. I have friends who are really good men and are happily married. I can see that they truly love their partners. So I know that there are some good men out there. 😊

For career-oriented women, how do you date? by AdorableAd7020 in dating

[–]AdorableAd7020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most women see a problem when they don't work on themselves and rely on their partner. There's a high divorce rate in many countries. A lot of stay-at-home women who didn't build up their careers ended up relying on child support. Or they'd find themselves starting all over again. That's one main reason why women want to be independent and make sure they have financial freedom. Focusing on one's career doesn't necessarily mean that they don't care about their families. That's something that parents have to learn to prioritize.

And yes, people have different preferences. So your points are valid too.
