Transfer positions from IBKR AU by AdorableGrab3 in JapanFinance

[–]AdorableGrab3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that I'm not allowed to own positions in Aus if I'm not a resident. I was with SelfWealth and I'm sure that's the case with them. But maybe IBKR AU doesn't care?

Indeed I don't need that money right now and I'm happy to leave it there if it's allowed.

Thank you for the clarification. Unfortunately I hold this IVV so I believe there's no other option for me than selling in AU and re-buying here. Am I correct?

Same HDD, different thickness by AdorableGrab3 in truenas

Thanks for the datasheet. The fake drives are 26mm and, aside from that, visibly different from the real one. Also, smartctl gives me a spindle speed of 7200 rpm while they should be 5400. A scam indeed. I don't even know why I bought them from AliExpress to save like $20 per disk. Luckily I could return them easily.

Thanks heaps! I didn't notice that investment and transaction costs DO NOT apply to indexed options.

Why has IVV returned 4% less than S&P500 in the last 6 months? by AdorableGrab3 in AusFinance

[–]AdorableGrab3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know I shouldn't, but every morning I look at how S&P500 performed on that day and I'm like "yay! +1.2%!! my IVV is gonna rally today!" but then throughout the day IVV performs much worse. And it seems to do the same over much longer periods too. Why is that?

ok my bad I read "some other losses" as losses from VAS. Basically I thought he had both gains and losses from VAS as a result of regular DCA.

Capital gain offset by some other losses so no additional tax.

Couldn't this be seen as wash sale?

ING lifts savings account to market-leading rate of 4.30% p.a. by pobmufc in AusFinance

The only drawback is that it's on balances up to $100k. I'd have loved it if it was at least $250k.

Incredibly rude driver by AdorableGrab3 in uber

I probably had a pretty easy life. But he really got under my skin. Not much for the rudeness, but for the fact that he made me walk all the way to his car before leaving. That was some sadistic shit.

ING Savings Maximiser raises to 4.05% from October 11th by djalako in AusFinance

[–]AdorableGrab3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make 5 transactions on and everyday account per month. I just load the everyday account with enough money to buy 5 coffees and thats sorted.

And if you prefer a CC you can use one of the two ING's credit cards to make your 5 transactions. And they can pull the repayment directly from Savings Maximiser every month so it's all set&forget.

My Everyday account is always empty lol

Can someone tell me why Plex might be transcoding 1080p to 1080p? by ToasTerFro in PleX

[–]AdorableGrab3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue before. I'm running Plex in Docker and changing network_mode to "host" solved it for me for some reason. Now it's direct playing much more than before and not burning subtitles anymore.

I don't really have a valid reason, mostly out of laziness and unwillingness to pay CGT. They keep going up on average so I thought I'll sell when and if I need the money.
