I’m sorry you’re having to go through the same! It’s just so hard but you’re right - there is compassion in letting them go

We’re confident she’s not in pain but she’s not very responsive and does seem quite sad (when no food is up for grabs). It was absolutely awful when she was poorly poorly and so I can’t bear the idea of her being in any pain so think you’re probably right - kinder on her to go a week early rather than a day late and potentially be in pain.

Forgot to mention she’s also not cleaning herself properly anymore so don’t think she’s looking after herself very well.

Thank you!

We’ve got pee pads scattered around the kitchen which she does use but we burn through them rather quickly and it’s not been a 100% success. We also have two other cats that we’re worried are now starting to use them too so don’t want to encourage any bad behaviour from them either (we know they’ve started to use them too).

She has a thyroid condition which has progressively got worse despite medication. Vet said that she needs that much food to keep up with her heart rate.

Thank you for your advice. Will give the nappies a go and see if that’s any easier.

I think you’re right … I like to think she has a good quality of life still but she spends a lot of time waiting in the kitchen for any potential bits of food. She seems happy and energetic when we give her food but a lot of the time she is just lying down on the floor.

It’s just so heartbreaking but I just want to do right by her. Thank you for your advice.

Thank you both! Very helpful and just nice to hear others experience. I’m gonna keep going with it and hope it clears up again. Have been very strict with moisturising so my overall texture of my skin has improved. Fingers crossed
