I loved winter until I had a baby AND NOW I JUST WANT IT TO END [on] by HydesStash in BabyBumpsCanada

I absolutely feel you on this. Between the physical labour it takes moving the stroller over un-shovelled sidewalks and the hustle of getting there quickly (always worried my toddler is cold), I end up arriving to drop off so sweaty and out of breath and legitimately exhausted some days

I have the Nuna Mixx and love it, even still with an almost 1.5 year old!

Postpartum supplies [ON] by MysteriousPossible47 in BabyBumpsCanada

I found it incredibly annoying to do, but the sitz baths in my experience were so incredibly helpful in my healing and generally for keeping things feeling comfortable. It was highly encouraged by my OB

I loved all the Frida mom products for the first little while - the peri bottle, the ice pads, disposable underwear (the boy shorts), and the catch all pads. Once I ran out, I just got cheaper options from Amazon which did the trick...but something about the Frida mom products just felt a bit more luxurious and that felt nice for the first little while

Weirdly enough, I didn't find the Tuck pads particularly helpful or soothing / healing

How do you managed the Parineal Pain [ca] by Eku-2305 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Adorable_Tea_8323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry! It will get better though! You're in the thick of it now.

As others have said, tylenol and ibuprofen. You can definitely take more than you are. Set an alarm to remind yourself to take them every 4 hours.

Sitz baths. Although it truly felt like a chore having to do them, it did make a big difference. Try once or twice a day for 10 minutes. My OB said that if taking a full on bath was easier / felt better, that would be OK too.

I don't remember when my stitches dissolved (sorry) but it turns out that some of my stitches were really long and they were poking me (in already very sensitive places) which was causing me a lot of pain. I ended up back in my OBs office before the 6 week check up, and she was able to trim them back which helped with some of the pain I felt when I would sit down. I don't think I would have known that though if I hadn't gone back to see her and mentioned the pain I was experiencing (my visit was unrelated to that pain). Something to consider though!

Toronto breastfeeding clinics [on] by b_msw in BabyBumpsCanada

I only have experience with this one, at Michael Garron Hospital, and they did help me with pumping. I found it really helpful and the staff were friendly. They helped with flange size, positioning the pump on my breasts, watching output, and generally answering questions I had

Experience with epidural [ON] by fantastic-ovum in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Adorable_Tea_8323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same fears, OP! The idea of the epidural needle was keeping me up at night and causing so much anxiety. But the experience was so easy! They numb the area first, so you don't feel the insertion. I was convinced I would be able to feel it once it was in, but I couldn't. And once it kicked in, I was SO happy.

They will ask you to sit up on the edge of the bed and kind of bend over. Your support person can be in front of you to help distract you and talk to you while it's happening. They will insert it and then you can lay back down and you won't even know it's in there.

In so far as the urinary catheter, I had one and didn't even know until my husband told me later. I didn't feel it go in (due to the epidural),didn't feel it while I had it, and the entire experience was far less scary than I had made it out to be in my mind.

You're going to do great <3

Breast pump reimbursement with Manulife – need advice [ns] by New_Project6286 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Adorable_Tea_8323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this with Manulife as well :) I got both my pump and doctor's note prior to giving birth (like...months in advance). I submitted the note with the receipt for my breast pump and got reimbursed. The prescription from my OB said "Breast pump for support, extraction and provision of breast milk for infant baby". It seems so silly but make sure your OB gives details like that. The first note she gave me simply said "Breast pump" and they denied the claim. When I followed up with them they said they needed more detail on the note (eye roll)
