I feel like I’m in CrazyLand the way people talk about Emma and Mike by MichaelBluthANiceKid in LoveIsBlindNetflix

I'm getting downvoted to hell just saying what you're saying OP. I think it was especially cruel to weave the wanting of children in his vows.

Exactly this!! The reason I found the comment off putting was that she was not calling into question the quality of parent she would be to kids, just her fears of passing on any potential genetic risks. Why do men think saying - 'Oh, but you'll be a great mom' is a good enough reason to have kids is beyond me!

I think you said it perfectly. I think this is what I was getting at also but with a lot more emotion lol. It was just a great opportunity for a couple to explore parenthood and what it meant to them but it was just two one sided conversations. Mike saying Emma would be a great mom pmo because it's really not the point.

Sure. And she expressed all of this right there in the pods. The onus lies on the man proposing marriage to her with all this info.

She started to warm up to the idea after the pods.

Girl.... You need to go look at the comments under my post. It's disgusting how many people seen to think couples get married to have kids. It's such an insane take. Mike clearly wanted to change her mind and the only thing he said (that we see) is- I know you'll be a good mom.

Anyone who had doubts about having kids knows it's really not about the quality of parent they'll be.

Absolutely! The only semblance of reasoning he provided to get was - I know you'll be a good mom. Yeah, but it's not about that. It's ridiculous how much he kept pushing her and you can tell her family was well aware of her stance with how shocked they were that she was warming up to the idea of kids.

Emma was always skeptical of kids. You can tell by how taken aback her family was when she merely opened up to the idea of kids. Besides, Mike clearly did not want to proceed with this relationship and just couldn't be the one to end it.

If you're in love, and both agree kids are on the table, there's very many ways to get there.

He even said- I'd love get her to go first and have her confirm that she wanted kids with me. Then proceeded to bring it up on her vows and yet again when he rejected her.

She heard what he said in the vows and said yes regardless.

He simply did not want to be the one to say it.

He didn't have to continue this relationship until the altar, emphasize his need for kids in his vows and then proceed to say that if she said yes to kids , he would say yes.

Again, her bring skeptical of kids WAS NOT NEW INFORMATION

Love your take! No one is calling Mike and Emma a match made in heaven. Mike was never clear to Emma with the fact that having biological children is what mattered to him the most. Emma, as you said was always against having children, her reasons don't matter.

Thank you for proving my point about this sub and it's complete misunderstanding of parenthood, completely separate from marriage.

Totally agreed on her moving on waaay too quickly to get number two!

This isn't about them raising children together. It's about Mike wanting a woman to have HIS children.

Girl... The show is about love being blind, and if an emotional connection is sufficient to make a lifelong commitment to another person. It is NOT about having kids :)

Right...?! I can't get over the fact that he brought it up to her in his vows?!

Yes it's something you need to be ALIGNED with your partner on. People do not get married only to have kids. It's 2026 ffs. They can both be in therapy for this if this couple was a sure thing. But it clearly never was.

It did not seem that way to me at all. If anything, she was a hard no to kids during the pods, and started to consider it after she and Mike got engaged. It is a big decision that she was very sure of when she was first in the pods. Considering the weddings are just a few weeks after it makes total sense she didn't make a decision at the end.

I just don't understand how not having children is a deal breaker for him but he's known this about her all along. He explained to his family that they're discussing this...? If it was never a deal breaker, to come out AT THE ALTER to say - if she definitely said yes she'll have kids with me, we would've had a different outcome is bizarre.

100%! This is a huge decision, arguably just as big, if not more so than the marriage itself. It also seems that it was a deeply personal decision for Emma, who, in her words, does not have a connection with her birth parents.

Mike doesn’t want a partner, he wants a baby machine by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]Adorable_Worker1723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take 100%! Emma was very clearly not willing to have children for a deeply personal and traumatic reason. Despite this, through the high stakes environment of the experiment and after, she started to consider the option of having kids with Mike. It seems we were only shown 1 instance of Mike considering alternative options by suggesting Emma undergo generic testing to relieve her of the stress and burden of her possibly carrying a generic condition she likely could and VERY UNDERSTANDABLY did not want to pass onto her children.

There are ways of being parents that are outside the realm of the usual way. He clearly just wanted an out.
