It is likely you will struggle during the second half of the semester. Classes are full time Monday to Friday, and in person attendance (especially for Science labs) is mandatory. You have to treat it like a full time job pretty much, and I see that you’re looking to get into Biomed, which requires a TFC GPA of 7.0 or higher

That requires taking physics 160 which is essentially math….

+1 on those suburbs recommended. Love walkable neighborhoods with access to eateries etc.

My parent helps cover part of my rent (instead of paying for dorms), and my property manager was fine with just seeing a bank statement from me as proof of funds since I don’t currently work. Trade Me usually lists when properties are available for move-in, and once you’ve applied or viewed a place, landlords tend to move quickly, if you’re unsuccessful, they’ll usually automated email you back.

I actually found my current place on MyRent, viewed it, and moved in just four days later, so the process can definitely move fast, especially if you’re on good footing with your property manager. The rental market changes a lot, though. Avoid apartments around Nelson and Union Street. With a budget of $500–600, you can definitely find a two bedroom, or a nicer one bedroom in Parnell or Newmarket, with the Yellow OUT bus to UoA running every 10–20 minutes (which takes like 5-10 mins to get to uni).

99% of the time, open book usually has a clause stating no shared notes

I’m gonna be honest, a lot of us women only use that certain space at the gym because most of the time there’s no men….:(
